I am not sure what it is, and i will be taking it in before the head work is done.

But i hear a Grinding like an aggressive or totally worn break pad. The sound is constant. I usually hear it more with speed up till highway speeds so 25-60 normal driving. No change when in neutral, brakes applied, Sounds like it is coming from the middle to rear of the Jeep. Has that metal to metal sound. This is an 06 with 6500k on it.

Thanks,

I have already read all of these and they are talking about something totally different then what i am trying to explain. Or the explanation of the sound on my part or the others is incorrect. It is not a whirrl or pop. It is more of a hiss like i metal to metal, but not grinding. I have heard rear end noise in many an american car and this does not sound like your typical diff binding.

P.S. if someone is a junior or senior is it possible to take it for granted they already searched everything and came up empty handed or did not get the answers they were looking for?

Since most people (unlike you) don't take the time to search first, I think posting the links as SRT8 did is useful.

Sorry I can't help you, no strange rear end noises here.

Alex

I was thinking the same. I know that I've been slammed w/the "use search" when ever I first join a forum, so I didn't do that to FastSRT. I tried to help. I don't have the noise either, so I can't be of any help.

Sorry SRT I saw you copy and paste those links in like 3 different threads, and i got aggravated because i read it all before.

Well i have some more info, Sounds like a Tire hum, maybe the goodyear recall, and the metal rubbing sound that is constant. I will be installing my B&B tomorrow so while i wait for it to arrive i will take off the rear wheels and inspect the brakes, dustcovers and such. If nothing it goes in for the dealer to hack at it.

I had a similiar sound on my Denali and it turned out to be the dust backing plate of the rotor, it was just bent in slightly where it made a grinding sound,I just pushed it away with a screw driver.Just another suggestion you might want to check.Kevin...
