If i jab the thottle while cruising at a low rpm, when the revs drop back down there will be a distinct grinding sound coming from the rear section of my car. It is very brief but it does not sound good at all. Anyone have an idea what the cause of this noise could be? I'm not getting a check 4wd system light, by the way. Thanks

sounds like a possible issue with your rear differential.

how long would it need to be in the shop to fix a rear diff. problem, if thats what it is?

if there was something wrong with the rear differential, wouldnt it be constantly noticeable, instead of very briefly and rarely? especially since performance seems fine

Is yours an '07? I have this same sound when accelerating from 20 to around 40 with modderate throttle pressure. Although it seems to have almost gone away with more miles.

Yeah its an 07...the noise i'm hearing actually happens on deceleration, for like a split second if the rpm and speed are just right. like i said, its not a constant at all, so could it really be the rear diff?
