So I had a few drinks in me last night. The wife was kind enough to drive me home (built in DD since she is pregnant). She said that the Jeep was fast, but her GT3000 was faster. She said it (GT3000) was definitely faster 0-30 (don't ask me why she said to 30). I said the Jeep would be faster from 0-100, but the 3000 might passs by us for a bit. I bet her $20 that the Jeep was faster to 30mph. What are your thoughts?

I don't know anything about the GTs, but I do know there are not many cars out there faster from a dig. I think you'll take the $20 (save it for diapers).

Are you talking about a Mitsubishi 3000GT? I take it that it's the TT model?

Unless she has tricked it out heavily, I think you will be $20 richer. Edmunds got a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds when they tested the top of the line VR4 model in '99.

She can't remember the model, but she did say it was a 94 or 95 model year she thought. I just got off the phone with her, she has conceded the $20. But I just gave her some cash the other day, so am I really gaining everything. She did offer a BJ instead of the $20. So I'll have to think about that one! ;)

I have a 96 vr4 that is heavily modded...but in stock form....it would take the srt8. It is AWD as well...so from a dig it is very, very fast. Herre is a video of the fastest 3000gt/stealth as of now. 8's are expected from these guys or Matt with Dynamic Racing this spring/summer

I had a VR4 with all the bells and whistles. It was a turbo with 320hp, and it weighed a ton (north of 4000 lbs). It had some get up and go, and was 4wd, but would not even come close to a stock GCSRT8.

A TT AWD is in my area. We have raced on a few occasions - he never comes close.

Have to disagree. Would love to race one or see a race though.

sorry guys...I currently own both of these vehicles and it would be close till about 80 mph...then the top speed of the 189 mph VR4 takes over. That 5.4 0-60 was crap. In real tests I have seen 4.7 to 4.9 to 60....not the 5.4 of some crap editor from Motortrend. But as in all vehicles...they are all different.....and not all have the same times or drivers.

4400 pounds, 320-330hp (stock) with gearing that is not optimal (stock form) versus 4800lbs 420-430hp, gearing specifically designed for low end performance.....seems a no brainer in favor of the GCSRT8. While not the most reliable, magazine test numbers seem to confirm this.
