I'm interesting in buying some sort of security/anti-theft system. Does anyone have any suggestions? What's the best bang for the buck?

I have LoJack with Early Warning in my wife's car. I live in a quiet neighborhood but my brother's Civic SI was stolen from his driveway last month and he only lives 2 blocks from me. I park in a garage at my house at night but the theft got me thinking of installing something on the Jeep.

If someone steals one of my vehicles, I have no interest in it being found. I'd rather get the insurance money and replace it.

If someone was to steal your ride, you know they wont drive it like a grandma, and would completely tear it up!! I'd rather get the Ins, money also!!

I'm interested in adding protection to help prevent the car from being stolen in the first place. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding something that actually works? I agree with not wanting the ride back if stolen but it's in all of our best interests to prevent theft because you could get the insurance money, but will another new Jeep SRT8 be available? I know I would want another!!

Thanks for the input. My only concern on this is if you hack saw (or sawzall via cordless unit) the steering wheel, which takes 10 seconds, a steering wheel club can be removed and the car can be driven with a cut in the steering wheel.

yeah, the club's a deterrent more than anything else - if someone ran a screwdriver through my door or broke any door or quarter panel glass to get in, there goes my deductible anyway - at this point i'd rather the car gets stolen.

"locks only keep the honest people out" as the saying goes..

my friend did have a system which killed the engine after 20 seconds in the case of the car getting started and a hidden button not being pressed within the timeout period. i think a system like that would keep the majority of gangstas from driving off with your whip (not too far, anyway).

if someone's really determined to get your car they'll come with a tow..not much you can do about that. i don't think we have to worry about this too much with our 50k trucks.

Could you please tell your brother that he needs to clean the ash tray in his car more often. The one in the Civic was crammed with garbage.

This is a pretty good device, actually. When I was in the police academy, they instructed us that it was one of the most effective types of quick disconnect car locks.
