I did a quick search and did not find what I was looking for so if this has already been covered please dont shoot me.

The CSC is having a dyno day comming up but the dyno is only 2wd. I want to dyno but i'm awd. I found this Ediff 2wd mod online and had a few questions.

http://web.mac.com/drivenphotography/iWeb/Family%20Site/EDIFF.html

1. has anyone tried it?
2. has anyone used it on the dyno?
3. is it harmful to any driveline components?

I also saw the tcs off mod.

anyone know how this is different from the switch in the dash?

Yes I am a noob here.

Some people on here have tried it and it ended up damaging there Transfer Case in some cases. Ask Navyavi469 I believe he is one of them who it happened to. The only rear way to dyno it on a 2WD dyno would be to disengage the 2 front wheels by removing the front drive shaft. Hopefully someone else with first hand knowledge can chime in.

i too had my transfercase messed up when i tried to get a 2wd dyno. getting the front driveshaft taken out is probably the only kind of safe way to get it done but i think even then it still doesnt completely disengage the 4wd. dont quote me on that though. i am sure others will chime in. gl

Yea ask Builder Bill or Winston, they would definitely know but from what I've heard, it will damage the T-Case. Somehow even if this thing "claims" to disengage the front diff, something about the clutchpacks or something was still engaged. like this did not safely stop the case from trying to send power to the front so it was ruined. I don't know the mechanics or even the important details behind it, but Id say unless you're under warranty and can uninstall this thingy and have it back to factory for a new tcase, I would mess with it. GL whichever road you go ;)

i'll just not dyno if it is going to mess up the T-case. I opted for no warrenty. $1600 for a warrenty, Most expensive item that breaks was the T-case at $4100 (stocker). But I would want a built one anyway ($2200) if that ever went out. So I will just spend the $600 difference myself.

if you havent done it before you could get away with a pull or two on the dyno by just unplugging the transfer case, setting the ESP off via the Predator and/or pulling the pink fuse. however to do this safely it is best to disconnect the power to the Transfer case motor and remove the front drive shaft, do the ESP and then have at it....

Actually, I believe the easiest and safest way is to unbolt the transfer case motor.

It is about a 4 minute job, no jackstands required.
That way you are sure that the clutches are not engaged.
Careful with pulling the driveshaft for more that a short period of time.
I burned up one of my transfer cases like that.
Rear main shaft turning, front not engaged because it does not sense a spinning front tire.....not too good.

I am not going to do any of this 2wd stuff. It all sounds like a bad idea. Has anyone done the tcs mod?

this is actually how they damgaed my transfercase. the guy tried to take off the motor but he still couldnt get it engage just 2wd. so when i went to the dealership they tried to replace the motor and when that didnt fix the problem they just gave me a new trasfercase. :D

Thanks too Ekaz I took mine there as well a few months ago! The only issue i was having was that I did not have Predator and could not put my Jeep in Dyno mode. So I ended up taking out fuse number 17, which was closets to the firewall and was a pink fuse.

"dyno mode" please elaborate. And did they let you tune between runs or just pull 3 times and done?

I just went there to do a baseline run of my jeep thats all. I do not know much about the dyno mode other than it will let you dyno the jeep with out the ABS kicking in when you have it on an all wheel drive Dyno. Basically if you just take it there and don't have a Predator or pull the ABS fuse. What will happen will be that when the Jeep starts to get speed on the dyno the ABS kicks in and slows the wheels down. Where if i would have had a Diablosport Predator I would have not run into this problem. Hopefully you were able to understand what i was trying to say.
