Has anyone in Houston tried inputting some of the goofy-ass addresses we have here?. Today my wife wanted to go to 6565 West Loop South (610 freeway). No way would the nav accept that. Frustrating to say the least.

Gotta learn what the nav calls it-or-know the general area and make it a manual set.

My portable Garmin is far superior. Oh well, not going to mount it in this though. The stock nav system is NOT very friendly compared to the Garmin!

Our stock nav unit is actually an OEM Alpine peice. This shocks me, considering Alpine is a relatively high end manufacturer. When I used to work for Tweeter, etc. I recall selling the Alpine F1 system (over $15,000)!!!

You have to use actual street names and not local lingo. ;)

Uh oh!!!

Now I have some ideas going in my head. Alpine is the maker huh?

that means theres got to be some neat little tricks to integrate it with all the Alpine stuff that I have.

HUH?!?!?!?!?!

Agree the Nav is not very user friendly and the maps are crappy compared to what is available elsewhere. I've got a Nuvi 350 and use that more often, until recently. Have Blackberry 8800 now with TeleNav GPS Navigator installed and it has been great. Looking for a good way to mount the Blackberry in the GCSRT8 now.

+3. There's a ton of trip functionality on my Garmin 2720 that I wish was part of the GC nav package.
