: Is it just me or do jeep dealers suck!
wetwille 07-13-2009, 09:56 PM So I take my jeep in because the drivers side front window is rattleing when I close the door. They replace the regulator and say it is fine. I pick the car get on the road and hit a bump and the window is still the same if not worse. So I am not happy, then the next morning I am cleaning the truck and The front passenger side rim has a huge chunk missing out of it, with yellow paint on it. The clown pulling it in must have slammed into the lift. This is not the first time they have not corrected my intial problem and found damage on the truck. Has anyone else had window problems and or problems with a dealership. I am calling them in the morning I will let you guys know what they end up doing, Im thinking new rim.

Probably 1 in 10 dealers are good. And the one usually is very good.

+1, they dont really care, no passion anymore. They dont even care about doing the job and doing it right, everyone is scared they'll lose their dang job. Its a shame cause I know each car company has their own issues with service but none Ive heard are nearly as bad on this forum (aka JEEP). GL w/ the fix hehe
I think I have the "1". never a prob, mod friendly,$20 oil changes (suply own mobil), I think they are great.
sory to hear about your prob.
they realy should get things right - in these econ times especialy. show better service keep more cust. happy, and gain new custs.
mrfamous 07-13-2009, 11:50 PM That rim problem would have me pissed. I wouldn't be rude, but I would point out the problem and request a prompt replacement. If that didn't happen I would talk to the owner of the dealer and if he didn't make something happen I would call my lawyer from their lobby. Things would happen quickly then, whether they wanted it to or not.

I'm with you here. I've got a great "1". However, I certainly do not dispute the fact that there are many "DEALERS" out there who are less than stellar.
Mines great.....furthermore, I have never had a problem with a dealer or its service personnel. I make it a point when making a purchase to immediately establish a relationship with a service advisor, discuss techs, (in our case an SRT qualified one or one with high performance experience or interest), pick one, and if his/her work is good stick with him/her. If you've purchased used, or purchased elsewhere, I firmly believe it is how you initially establish that relationship with those you'll work with.
I also develop that relationship by making sure they have a little extra in their personal pockets for lunch, dinner, whatever, when I pick it up. I know, maybe I shouldn't have to, and maybe they should go above and beyond with no "tips", but it sure has always worked for me.
My advisor/tech team also treats others who I have referred to them the same way, and they have more than once gone above and beyond for me.
Just my experience and 2 cents.
Vinnysrt8 07-14-2009, 06:04 AM dealer ships suck
suprem454 07-14-2009, 07:02 AM Always do a very very close inspection before you drive away, I had my carpet replaced under warr. not to long after I purchased my truck at a dealer in NJ. When I inspected the truck before leaving I found they had scratched my arm rest, broken a plastic side trim panel by the rear seat. They stuck the 2 pieces together and was going to send me on the way. When I showed it to the servcie manager and he told the tech, the tech said " its broken?" Well if you take out a part as one piece and put it back in as two pieces,,,, hum,,,let me think,,,,,,, yeah its broken. They also tried to run the how do we know the scratch wasnt there line. Both parts replaced free of charge....
SJG3RD 07-14-2009, 11:40 AM I have warranty and service work done at a Dodge/Chrysler dealership. The don't even have any Jeeps on the lot. However, they have always been more than willing to do the work. Plus they have an SRT and Viper tech on staff which is a little more reassuring.
I don't have a lot done from them but the few things they have done and I haven't had any issues.
WBSRT 07-15-2009, 02:42 PM This is a long story, I'll try and keep it short. Just got my Jeep back from the dealer. I was getting the ETC light , and a bad TPMS. I had to flatbed her to the dealer, I choose a different dealer since i had a nightmare of time in the past dealing with the dealer i purchased my jeep from. So I prepared myself , knowing I would have to leave the jeep there for a few days. Long story short I Dropped it on Saturday, got a call back saturday evening telling me they had to order a new throttle position sensor and brake overlay. The parts wont be in till Wed's they said. Ok so im searching for the right words to tell them to plz be careful, and not sound like the OCD owner that i can be, No need , the manager said Since its a SRT8 he doesnt want to leave it parked out side. Great. but im still uneasy, We've all heard dealers tell us one thing and someone in the shop does something else. So Im cranky as hell at home, making everyone miserable. LOL , Saturday night we get a hell of a thunder storm, Im like FC*@ i hope my jeep is not outside. Sunday morning im up at the crack, drive to the dealer to check it out. There she was parked inside, in an empty bay away from where all the work gets done, NICE !!! Three more SRT8-Less days to go, and they still have to put the part in. Im more at ease tho. Tuesday rolls around and i get a call telling me my Jeep is ready. O Yeah !! The OCD kicks in again because i could not wait for my wife to take me, I drove my DD there, get the keys, do the walk around, pop the hood, check the glove box, double check the rims, bumper, everything looks good. Im even glad they dndt try and wash it. So i left my DD there and took the jeep home. :pinklove::pinklove:
Im Glad the dealer under promised and over delivered!!!
Dodge Chrysler Jeep City in Burlington NJ.
l0udfnpipes 07-15-2009, 07:36 PM im going thru dealer hell right now. would be nice if we had a dealership listing right here. i got nothing but bad experiences to share

+1!!
I try to follow this same philosophy myself. (Treat others as you'd like to be treated, I say!) You're right, it does make me wonder why we sometimes have to "suck up" to service providers just so we can have quality work done. But for me, it's easier than worrying about whether or not you're getting "an honest day's work" on their part. Mind you, this isn't isolated to the auto industry, either. IMO, this is just a small snapshot of an overall downward trend of poor customer service wherever you go, whether it be your local dealer, a Wal-Mart cashier, or the neighborhood trash man.
For me, I was just lucky to find a great SRT tech only a few miles from me! :D

I'am with you on that downward trend bad CS drives me nuts. Quick story, back in 03 i had my Audi in for service, Like always i wait, So i asked to test drive a new Audi, one that I was was interested in when my lease was up, The salesman i always dealt with was off, So another guy was a bit reluctant to had over the keys but he did, So i went for a drive, grabbed some lunch in the drive through and came back, The Dude was all nervous and upset. Acted like i was gonna steal the car. So a few months later when my lease was up, I brought that Audi, But not from him, I could see him watching me the whole time i was singing the papers, LMAO. So i make it a point when I get above and beyond service, I ask for the manager and make a comment.
wetwille 07-15-2009, 09:33 PM Thanks for all your stories, I guess I am not alone. I dropped the jeep off earlier today and they finally fixed the window, now I am working on the rim. They did not try to pull the, "that was already there" thing cause the service advisor knows me knows how anal I am with the jeep. The problem I am having is that they are going to try to fix the rim with some clown that only fixes rims. I already know It will not look good, so I am preparing for the battle. ANy one every have a rim with a chunk missing fixed?

Bro I went thru that that with the dealer already, The scuffed up my back rim and said it was there, I fought with them Bla bla, they fixed it after i went to the BBB. The finish on the inside of the rim is a bit ruff, but the outside it good. GL
pjs1965 07-21-2009, 09:48 PM Here's another horror story about a Dodge Dealership: http://consumerist.com/5317145/dodge-dealership-cant-repair-truck-after-6-days-local-mechanic-does-it-in-10-minutes
stang99x 07-21-2009, 09:57 PM mine is so intelligent they told me I needed 4 quarts of cfer case fluid, and it held 1.8 (at $40 a quart)
wetwille 07-22-2009, 09:24 PM I am still fighting with them they told me they would give me $100 bucks off a rim on ebay. That pissed me off even more. I had the service manager finally look at it an now he said they want me to get prices to see how much I can find one on ebay, and they are getting a price on one from chysler. Anyone know of a place to get rims from?
robpp 07-22-2009, 10:53 PM be careful. lots on eBay have been repaired too.

"F" that, why the hell are they telling you to find a rim? Let alone a used one from E-bay. They wouldnt have dared to ask me to find my own used rim after they "F"ed it up.
My Jeep is in he dealership right now too, Ill post in a few days my experiences. The buying experience was great, not sure about service just yet. The salesman took my 19 month old and played with him in the play area for about 1 hour while I was signing papers and denying all the extra crap they try to upsell you.
