I use nothing but Adam's products on my ride. Have used it (and only it) for about 4 years now. From wash to wax, clay and polishes, wheel cleaners and trim detailer.

Use a synthetic based protectant. When the wheels get hot the soft wax actually attracts and holds some of the brake dust to the wheel.

Gotta go with WJ on this one. Sticks to these wheels big time. Tried many products, and have used this on my year and a half old BBS LM's, on my M3. High mileage, wheels clean easily, and still appear new. Good stuff. Dust still accumulates, but clean easily. Oh yeah, this I have found to be a good brush to use to get the whole inside of the rim also.

simple and cheap. Rain X. Works like a charm. Put it on the rims.

I have used the Michelin 3 step system. The Tire shine is pretty good, but flattens out faily quick, I use Maguiar's Endurance instead. The wheel cleaner works exceptionally well, I use the Michilin product or Maguiar's Hot Rims, both remove brake dust very well. The Michelin brake dust repellant works well, but, by no means does it perform miracles. You will be required to use it every time you wash, and it only gives you a few extra days where brake dust build up isn't severe.

What we need is a clear teflon based coating!

Anyone tried anything else?

heres how i keep them looking really good.....

Eagle One Nano Wax about once every two months, then every weekend, just spray the DuPont Teflon Wheel cleaner on them...every single spec of brake dust will roll right off.

Tried Rain X on the rims this weekend. I drove to work this morning in the rain for 1 hour. When I got to work, the rims looked like I just washed them. Thanks for the tip.

... forgot to mention. I used WheelWax a few years ago when it just came out. It was a BIG waist of time and money. I bought it just as I was getting ready to put my summer rims/tires back on the car, so they where in storage. I meticulously applied it to the rims, since the wheels where off the car, it was easy. But, no matter how much care I took in applying the wax, the benefit never materialized. Again, my 2 cents say - this product is junk.

2 questions for those who have used the Rain-X:
1) what did you use to apply it?
2) how often should it be re-applied??
thanks in advance

I used a wax applicator to put it on after cleaning the wheels.

I havent gotten to a second coat yet since I only put it on a few weeks ago, but it makes cleaning them a great deal easier/ I use a wet towel rinse it between rims.

After cleaning the rims completely, I put it on with a small terry cloth towel. Once dried to a haze (happens quick), I wiped it with paper towel until it was streak free. I have not reapplied yet.

This was my first time using it. It has rained everyday since. It rained my first day with it on, rims looked spotless after my 1 hour drive to work in the rain. On the way home, some brake dust began to accumulate. On the 3rd day now, haven't washed em yet and the rims are dirty, but not as bad as they used to be. I'm not sure if they will now clean off any easier.

By the way, the RainX has helped with the grime on the back window that we get.
