After getting a brandnew truck 10 days ago replacing my first SRT8, I had twice a weird problem today with my brandnew second SRT8.

I started the car as usual but as I putted the shifter in drive, it makes a big flip from the transmission.

And then driving it was impossible to drive faster than 22 mph and the car wasn't shifting out of first gear.

In the dash I got boxes around all of the shift indicators

After shutting off and restarting again, the problem was gone.

But the whole day the response from the throttle and the automatic shifting was a little delayed.

What could be the problem here?

This problem was asked about on the last SRT8 chat session. Basically the engineers said that this condition is the result of a communication problem between the PCM and the TCM. If they don't "shake hands" properly electronically, these symptoms result. Turning the vehicle off and restarting usually clears the problem. No word yet if a TSB will be released for this issue.

Aha, but when this occur, could it be found as a displayed fault in the fault recorder later on?

And how could it be fixed?

I had this problem twice today and it makes me really unhappy, that my second SRT8 will start now with some problems too.

I believe it was also noted that it happened in cold weather more often. Man you are having bad luck with these trucks!

I think the techs also mentioned checking all connections on TCM & PCM, to make sure they are tight. If the condition continues take it to your dealer & tell then your not the only '07 it's happened too.

This happened to me once as well. Doing a restart cleared it right up!

Check all your transmission harnesses and all harnesses to and from the ECU, someone at the factory screwed up.

This are the faults from my fault recorder:

U 0402 Implausible Data received from TCM

U 0403 Lost Communication with electric gear shift module

But unfortunately the mechanic didn't know what could be the reason for that.

No open connectors or harnesses found.

Happened to my wife also with just over 800 miles. Was just around the corner from the dealer, they came and drove the car to the dealership but unfortuneately she turned the car off just before they got there and it must have reset. Service tech could not replicate! They gave the Jeep the latest flash though and it seems to shift a bit firmer from 1st to 2nd!

Hmm, I just ordered a new PCM for the B&G Flash stage II on my 07' from the dealer...I know the Flash just came out but it makes me wonder if there are going to be any underlying problems in regards to the stock PCM/TCM having issues. I assume Dave at B&G figured this out before the release.
