So I love the clean look of the srt8 w/out a front plate and no way in hell was I going to drill holes so I decided to use DEVCON 2-TON Epoxy and glue two suction cups on the back of my spare front plate. I also Epoxy'd a generic black plate frame also. This for me will be a plate i'll slap on when parking in chicago since they're real ****s on front plates and also for those nights where I might have a drink or two and dont feel like giving mr. officer any reason to pull me over. So far I had it stuck on to the front all day in rain/slush/snow and its stick sticking hard, and of course over many newly developed city pot holes also. It sticks great and easily comes off. And best of all NO HOLES ! :D

Razor,

Looking good. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when my plates get in but I don't want to drill holes either.

Also, slightly off topic, I like the blue tint on your headlamps. Where did you get that done, and how do you like them in person???

Thanks!

I like the idea, but my dumbass would forget about the plate when driving away and it would probably fall off on the freeway.

thats where i got the tint film -easy to put on like 30 min - the bottom fogs started to bubble a little from heat (although i have 9006 65w bulbs in there =) but the headlights are still mint and have definitley protected the headlights from some heavy duty rock damage.

I have 3m film on the front end of my car so i dont know if it makes a difference but the plate has been firmly on all day- doin 70 on the highway and driving over tons of potholes today and it didnt even budge. I'm going to keep them on for a week or two straight to see how well they hold on but so far they're great. And the epoxy- is the strongest type i have every used - i used it to put two pieces of titanium togethor with a drop and after a day i could pry them apart with all my strength ( and i'm not weak )

Has anyone tried glueing magnets to the inside of the bumper? I'm sure you could find some really strong magnets that would not drop the plate.

update...so I had the plate on for 4 days straight, no problems even with the slush and rain and snow, with temps probally around 10' - it didnt even budge so i just popped it off today so i could clean the car ( and i dont like seeing the front plate on the car that long =) ) - so right now its just laying around in the cargo space for the next time i'll need it, otherwise i proved to myself that its pretty darn reliable.

magnets would probally work but on jarring bumps the plate might move with the magnets a little and scratch the bumpber.

I was thinking of glueing the magnets to the inside of the bumper and hopefully they would not slip. But your point of the plate slipping is a good one.
I agree with you on the having a beer or two thing. On goes the plate after that. No reason to give them a reason.

So I finally got my first "no front plate" (along with 2 others) ticket today, and unfortunately it was where I park everyday. Now I'm thinking, this a-hole cop is gonna be back tomorrow and hit with another ticket, so I need a solution. Remembering this thread (thanks Razor!), I stopped by Walgreens to get some suction cups. Now I had decided I was going to mount the suction cups to the front plate bracket rather than directly to the plate, so I grabbed the bracket and made an fantastic discovery. The medium size suction cups fit directly into the brackets mounting holes, as if they were made for each other.

These are the suction cups I bought a Walgreens for $3.99

This the medium size cup (4 in the package) with the metal hook removed. Notice the knob on the end, this is slightly bigger than the mounting hole on our plate bracket.

Simply push the center of the suction cup into the mounting hole and it will pop through, securing itself to the bracket.

It seems to hold very well, although I haven't driven with it on the bumper yet. The nice thing is, you really can't see the suction cups or tell that it's not permanently attached. If you need a front plate solution, it simply doesn't get any easier than this.

So hows the mod treatin ya so far ? I had my plate on for a few weeks through the winter actually and even took it to a high pressure wash and hosed it. It never even budged. :D

No problems yet, drove home with it on today and it didn't budge. Suction cups was a great idea, if the bumpers clean, they stick like glue.

Hey Krush, where did you get that mounting bracket? And I sure hope I can find that exact size suction cup, as I dont have Walgreens in MD. Oh, do you have any side profile pics of your truck, I really wanna see a black w/ the red calipers.

That's the stock front plate mounting bracket that comes with the Jeep and I believe I've seen the suction cups at Ace Hardware along with Walgreens.

Here's a shot of the rotors and calipers.

Ressurected the thread to see if this is still working for you. I'm going to have to eventually mount the front plate when they arrive and I really don't want to drill any holes in the bumper.

I'm thinking maybe I might do what you did because at my wife's work the campus police give out fix it tickets to parked cars w/o front plates. They have nothing better to do.
