turbotyphoon69 03-02-2007, 04:26 PM Too studly.
I'm not sure what to say.
It sure looks like it would be fast.
That blue is a great shade. I love it.
I do have a couple of questions though, and I'll admit ahead of time, my ignorance is likely to make me look stooooopid.
1) why the quick connects for the battery?
2) what is the release-looking lever next to the quick connects?
dalla1 03-02-2007, 04:36 PM well what did it make on the dyno
idealrides 03-02-2007, 04:44 PM Gene you know the only stupid questions are those that aren't asked.
The quick disconnects are so you can give or get a jumpstart (or connect a battery charger) without crawling under the car. I have no idea what the release lever is, it seems to be attached to some sort of device sitting next the the passenger side muffler can.

Maybe it's for the Trunk Monkey :)
maxxjeep 03-02-2007, 05:35 PM that is beastly! I love the paint work.
all that, and keeping it with the stock wheels though? *tear*
PsychoSRT8 03-02-2007, 05:53 PM wow... looks realll cool
what #s is it putting down?
Dr.Steve 03-02-2007, 07:24 PM I love everything about it except for the escalade vents. . . what a monster, can't wait to hear some times / specs and get some daytime shots of that paint!
Street WK 03-02-2007, 07:53 PM niiiiiiice
The lever is a battery disconnect. When can I buy that hood? Who's sc is that?
Str8Srt8 03-02-2007, 08:49 PM How come it is just sitting there?
Se7en 03-02-2007, 09:46 PM Ideal,
It is obvious that a lot of time and care has been put into that ride (nice work). The paint work is really nice and the pin striping works very well to blend the two colors.
Personally speaking, I think I prefer the cleaner (stealthier) look of the stock GCSRT for myself, but I can only give huge props for the obvious effort made on that car.
Cannot wait to see some numbers and some vids would be kewl too

StageFright 03-02-2007, 10:10 PM 2) what is the release-looking lever next to the quick connects?
Battery disconnect, but I don't know why you would put one on a street car?
Have to check a NHRA/IHRA rulebook for that one.
HoustonSRT-8 03-02-2007, 10:45 PM ughh...I do not like the body mods (hood, fender vents, battery connections) or the increased sidewall height. :(

El Jefe 03-02-2007, 11:26 PM IDK = I dont know
I like everything a lot except for the openings in the front of the hood. It would look slicker but thats just my opinion. Ya and wheres the #'s??
Black_SRT8 03-02-2007, 11:33 PM What is IDK?

MatFab 03-03-2007, 11:55 AM not to sure what to think of it...
millers_srt 03-03-2007, 12:07 PM  I want that hood! Who makes it?
Inferno SRT8 03-03-2007, 01:39 PM That thing is fuc*ing SICK!!!!!!
MatFab 03-03-2007, 01:57 PM also how come no one can take daytime pics?
Mango 03-03-2007, 02:04 PM LOL! Way to destroy a perfectly good looking GC SRT8.
*yawn*
But hey, somebody spent some serious coin and I hope they are happy.
gculver 03-03-2007, 06:29 PM  I want that hood! Who makes it?
The hood is hand fabricated, it was on the board a while back. Why the battery relocate,if the blower head unit is on the other side?? Not my overall style, but lots of effort($$$) went into it, Kudos Man!!!
AlexT 03-03-2007, 06:53 PM Why the battery relocate,if the blower head unit is on the other side??
Since it's an Optima, it's much lighter than stock, so I'm assuming there's some weight concern. Maybe it was relocated to lower the center of gravity, although that's a bit like putting lipstick on a pig IMO.
Alex
whipple1 03-03-2007, 11:25 PM I have no comment on the facelift, just wondering if that was a lease.LoL Good Luck.
Why the Escalade side vents?!?!? The tackiest thing I have ever seen. Why don't you just throw the rest of the AutoZone dress-up aisle onto that sucker??
IDKwhy 03-06-2007, 12:07 AM Thanks- I think?
The lever is to completely shut down the electrical system on the track in event of problem (required at most drag strips under 12.0)
I hAVE ONLY THE CAGE TO MAKE IN TIME FOR THE SUMMER FUN...
I am waiting on Scott (GS Motorsports) tosend me a kit he has developed to disengage the awd system so I can tune it on my dyno. - running 8lbs boost. W/ the cryo system...
The hood took about 60 hours and butchering (2) Ford Lightning Hoods - I would proably say to duplicate it would be better to make a mold and recreate it in Fiberglass or Carbon Fiber -ON DAY WHEN I GET A LIFE...
Please feel free to ask any questions and I hope for the most point you enjoy the look and it gives someone inspiration to do something "out of the box" like my escalade vents (I like the look)....
IDKwhy 03-06-2007, 12:20 AM It is really funny to see some of the insulting comments offered.
Why is it the guys who have not the capacity, vision or skills are the most critical?
I did everything myself....
If you can do any of it then I am glad to hear from you, otherwise just move on and I will see you firmly planted in my rear view mirror (for a second anyway).
Basken Robbins makes 31 flavors of Ice cream because not everyones tastes are the same. Why not just appreciate the work that when into it and try to remember, very few GC SRT8's will be keeping up with it in the street or the track -Drag or roadrace.....
Well, so much for sharing - I should have expected the usual "self Gratified Responders"
I just opens peoples minds to ideas of creative, modifications and concepts....
Never had anyone see it and offer anything but positive thoughts....
Original and lethal - Most can not compete - or I will see you at the local tracks this summer in the Washington Metro Area!
IDKwhy 03-06-2007, 12:32 AM IDK is my initials...
Ira is my name and I own & operate service stations in the DC metro Market.
My Damascus, MAryland location also does performance upgrades, fabrications & Dyno Testing & Tuning.
That is my personal truck- just given as a present from my wife in appreciation for all of my years of hard work- then of course- I can leave nothing alone- It will get more as I think of it or have the time & funds to throw at it. Scott (at GS) is trying to brainwash me into the 7.0 Longblock of his.... I figure I'll blow this one up first.
Have not strapped it down yet or cranked up the boost until Scott sends me some "project" parts to enable me to fine tune it to perfection...
Then I will share the #'s but, you can bet it will be stout....
Anyone, I can offer any information to that would be helpful or share some new ideas with- I would love to help -I can make just about anything, or have the resource to get it done....
My cell (703)926-2663 or my E-Mail - IDKwhy@aol.com....
I AM NOT OFFERING ANYTHING FOR SALE HERE- Just love to share new ideas and help make them real -if possible...
Street WK 03-06-2007, 06:00 AM Looks good man.
Can you please FAB up some pillar pods?
gculver 03-06-2007, 07:22 AM IDK, While our overall styles my differ, there is no question as to your ability. I enjoy looking at fabricated work(details, workmanship, quality, fit and finish). As a motorhead/builder and restorer of all makes of cars, I can appreciate the long hours, dedication and vision it takes to do a job well. As for others, I just don't know and/or care what the HELL is thought or said, JUST LET IT GO. Again, KUDOS MAN!!
SRT-8RAT 03-06-2007, 10:08 AM I like it!

Just something to think about.....just because it is different and unique doesn't mean it's beautiful.
Also, when you post your project on the internet, if you expect all the responses to be roses, then you are delusional. People have the right to express what they don't like and you just have to take the bad with the good; then move on. It's nothing to take personal.

As already stated, it's not a matter of "lacking vision" or "lacking skill". What has been posted is our opinion, which we are completely entitled to. You may think it looks beautiful, and I'm happy that you feel that way. Others may feel it's disgusting and an abomination of an already beautiful vehicle (which is what I believe). If you cannot handle positive AND negative criticism, then it's time to stop doing what you are doing.
I appreciate the skill that went into modding your vehicle, and it's something I could never do. However, there is no direct correlation between time/money spent on mods and how beautiful it may turn out. They are completely subjective things.
All that matters is that you are proud of YOUR ride.
