: SRT-4 kill

So I was on my way to a work meeting last night around 6:30 when I spotted an SRT-4 to the right and ahead of me. I pulled up to the guy and when he spotted me we began speeding up a bit, the traffic was terrible though (GSP rush hour) so there wasn't much room to test him, we were able to slow down to a 40mph roll twice (any slower and I would have been rear ended by the a**hole behind me who kept high-beaming us). The amazing thing is that from a 40mph roll, two times, I killed the guy, put it into 2nd and let the auto-upshift feature kick in. I was able to accelerate to just over 100 before upcoming traffic caused a backing off, but in two tries, this guy could not keep up. I tried to slow down and talk / find out what stage he was running, but I don't think he wanted to talk! All in all a good kill, and it also helped improve my day, as I had come out of the supermarket just before to see that some idiot old lady had parked the nose of her accord right into my bumper (no real damage thank god)!!!

Yes but i'm technically your neighbor, our family business is TAB Transmissions . I put two and two together with the location on parkway and the DR.Steve name.

Everytime I pass the vet I stare at your truck! How do you like it? I was planning on selling my silver SRT4 and getting one but I was just at Atco raceway today and ripped 2 11.8's and one 11.6. That's something that made me love my car again LOL.

I absolutely love the truck, and often see your SRT4 when I walk over to subway for a soda, feel free to stop me any time you see me or when I'm over at Kenny & Billy's to check out the ride and BS!
p.s. - nice runs today, vids looked like fun

hard to keep the black clean when you work 13 hour days and your hose is frozen. . . she'll be bright and shiny mon. morning. . . hopefully with working rear fog lights :)

My black got dirty today just driving from the touchless car wash to my house.

It really redefines high maintenance. Either that or I have to lower my standards.

Yea yea yea.... excuses. I actually have a hot/cold water diverter in my garage at home so I can wash my rides, but I usually go to a self serve that uses hot water. Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? Also looks like the SRT4 is going to be around for a while. I took a 300C SRT8 for a test drive on Friday and I didn't get the "wow" feeling or anything like I did the first time I drove my SRT4 or still to this day when I drive it :o . How long did you have to wait for vanity plates? I'm most likely getting them for my truck because its registration is coming due anyways.

BTW - trust me I know about high maintenence, one black ride is enough for me that's why I have the Silver SRT4.

Yo Doc,

Question = did you feel that you get more R's allowing the auto-upshift to kick in versus using your hand? I put the flash upg on 2 months ago in my '06 and I was just curious which way was best in a situation that you were describing - shift manually in auto-stick or just let the flash do its thing?

maf - I do think that the auto-upshift is quicker than my "manual" shifting and allows for crisper shifts at higher RPMs than I can manage alone, but that may be in my head (all except the higher revs)

carazy - I do have the B&B catback and the DUB cai installed, no other real performance upgrades YET; and I think I waited about 6 weeks for my vanity plates, didn't get my first choice though

The new Caliber SRT-4 looks pretty good.
