there is a really killer performance shop in my ironically boring town (even has awd dyno!) that does custom turbos and high end engine work for some really sick cars. Is everything i would need as far as parts/tuning currently available if i was to pursue a custom kit? i wouldnt want to throw reliability down the drain, especially after essentially doing such with my warranty. all i want is 600 hp. practical or fantasy? i find it hard to believe hennessey is the only guy who can do this, and im sure as hell not handing my keys to him

Are you sure you're emotionally ready for something this drastic?
Considering how every small noise has concerned you, I'm betting something this radical will drive you crazy. :)

I know a shop in Roswell, NM that, if you can give them your car for a couple months, can build a turbo. I was considering it, spoke with them and all, but I just couldn't bear to be seperated from my baby for that long, especially since I ended up waiting 6mo already just to get it. They've built some 9 and even 8sec streetable cars so they know turbos pretty good.

600hp should be a no brainer for a turbo to achieve on mostly stock setup. More than that and your talking beefier fuel injection, forged lower compression internals, water injection, external waste gates, a big turbo, etc but 900 streetable should be possible also.

You should find some good info here..
The problem is the programing. The motor is capable of this power we just can tune it yet. The rest of the drivetrain is rated for up to 600HP so i am guessing right at 600 you will start having problems, Like JH had with the trans.
There is a handful of us ready for this upgrade as long as the tune is good and the system is reliable

whats the shop called? 600rwhp is not out of the question at all. Small turbo system with a 100 shot would easily do it. But youll need to build up the motor and trans and rear end. Id wait for more people to do it first though. I forsee a lot of headaches

The fact of the matter is any jackass can slap a turbo on a 6.0L V8 (yes it's 6.1 but you get the point) and make 1000HP. Bending the SS tubes and making flanges is no big deal. Making it live (building the bottom, nailing the tune, adding a real fuel system) is a different story. That being said, if they've done it successfully with other cars, everything but the tune should be no problem.

i dealt with the issues and noises on my cobra, but only because that was modded out of control and i expected it...it just got me concerned when the brand new srt8 was making weird noises. but most of those are gone now, so everythings good, just have to get the damn tcm to cooperate and ill be all set. i do think at some point in the future, with a little work, a turbo kit would be awesome tho
