: Techco Superchargers vs others
Tim C 06-12-2009, 02:21 PM Just wanted to show a few differences with Techco and why we choose to sell them.
We are also Vortech, Procharger, Kenne Bell and Whipple (direct) distributors.-- Note: (not PPP/Yella Terra/Bullet/ kits that use Whipple compressors)
If you have any questions on any supercharger or other performance part, please feel free to ask.
Thanks guys,

Good read except for one part.
The long runners are not need to make tq with a twin-screw.
Techco 6.1 with Water/Meth: 437rwtq

The Vortechs are selling like hotcakes lately!!! I guess thats good since it will give me more info, times, issues, etc before I make my purchase to get blown. ;)
Tim C 06-12-2009, 03:02 PM That was the lowest Techco dyno we have every had.
It made 351whp stock and made 478ish at 5.2psi when it left here.
Stock everything- not even a catback exhaust. Thats over 120whp gain at 5psi and is the perfect long lasting, daily driver.
I would hope that the other kits could make more power with the higher boost levels they choose to run.
The system looks amazing! Much like it could have come that way from the factory.

the hp gain is nice, I was only commenting on the 75rwtq increase. The whipple and the Kenne Bell have equal increases in hp/tq, the techco seems to be lacking in the tq section. I do think the Techco looks great, I was only saying that the long runners are not needed when you have positive manifold pressure.
Newfiebullet 06-12-2009, 03:16 PM Damm im jelious!!!!! i want one so bad,and theres a video out with a 426 and a techco supercharger and it sounded awsome.

hahahahaha.....
Funny stuff. You can count on any pro Techco thread to have two things, one, someone bragging about their Vortech, and two, PPP trotting out the same "it comes on like a turbo with atypical and somewhat questionable torque band, etc...." comment, with the same single dyno graph, ignoring so many others that have been posted showing different and better results. This is funny. Let me tell you, this thing is the real deal and it pulls violently. Not that the others listed aren't strong. but the kit is beautiful and it performs. Negligable cost differences (Vortech is cheaper!), separate belt drive and made in America access to all parts and support make this a good kit to consider if wanting to go f/i.
Trathferd 06-12-2009, 03:35 PM You forgot to put a comparison on that matrix that shows cost.

I was curious what compression you have, I know you've had the 426 for some time before the Techo wondering if you lowered it or not? By the way that beast sounds sick!!!!

10.3:1 as built, option is to use a Cometic MLS gasket of desired thickness to give it a little drop, if larger pulley boost levels were to generate issues down the road, but I am not anticipating that. I know that for any level of "effective compression" there is an optimal mix between engine (static) compression and boostmaker source for a particular application. I will drive it mostly on the streets and occasional track, so the super low compression engine/super high boost solution for my total effective compression is not quite where I want this to be. Besides, intercooler works pretty well with this so should be ok with running up to 8-10 psi, fuel nothwithstanding.
Thanks, yes, it has a large cam and a whirring sound. Great combination. Looking forward to seeing what else pops up as jdoc gets his done and a few others make it into existence. One day, I might even get to the track!
greatone61 06-12-2009, 04:11 PM I own a Techco and am happy, a ton of people own Vortechs and they are happy, people are going to own the Yella Terra and will be happy.....leave it at that....I am kinda getting tired of the this blower is better than this blower threads......
But I gotta say...if someone is going to post a "this blower is better than this blower thread"....expect all the other blower manufacturers to come in and fight back....

Trathferd 06-12-2009, 10:30 PM What is the cost of that last blower? I will take it without the red top.
Chris Hull@TTC 06-12-2009, 10:31 PM What is the cost of that last blower? That may be worth the $$.:D
Probably cheaper than the vendors around here!! lol

Problem is you only get one pass. Worse than nitrous....

Might even give you future problems....lol...
Jeep Trick 06-13-2009, 07:27 AM Might even give you future problems....lol...
What about future maintenance costs?? You know there going to be thru the roof :D
Johnparts 06-13-2009, 02:43 PM All I have to say is this I have installed my fair share of superchargers and I was not impressed with the Techo numbers on a stock 6.1 +70 HP and +55 tq for $7495? eh whatever I guess thats why I haven't sold or promoted Techo's
Muellge 06-13-2009, 09:12 PM Which numbers were those...? The I like to mislead people and stir it up numbers?
4 months to install a whipple? Ooookay....
YogiSRT8 06-14-2009, 12:39 PM I need some professional opinions on installing brand X supercharger and it's effects on towing with the jeep. Do you all think that installing a supercharger on a Jeep means that i wouldnt be able to tow. I only care about engine reliability not tranny since i will prolly put in a built tranny anyway.

I thought about this for a while and decided to buy a beater for a daily driver and am going to sell my nearly new, hooked up only once, Kramsay Hitch for a bargain. I can tow with the truck and keep the Jeep for when I am looking to haul butt, not cargo. I would think increased torque would assist in towing, but may be some part throttle issues with matching speed and movement with the increased load on the engine if not optimally tuned. I am sure someone will be able to give you a nugget or two on this issue. Maybe make sure you add some water/meth to the mix while towing, hell anytime for that matter.
