: SHR Techco Install Party
Muellge 06-08-2009, 10:09 PM A few photos from Friday's get together to, in part, celebrate getting one of the first one of these on my Jeep. Thanks Eddie, Joanne, Andrew and company at SHR for working hard to get this up and running so quickly. Test driving and tuning today was pure perma-grin. Starting with just 5.5 psi and fuel is staying very safely in the high 10 low 11 range. Chirping brand new Nitto NT05s in second gear is a new trick worth mentioning. Really appreciate staying late today to get the tune far down the line today. Thanks to Techco for pulley support coming. More photos to follow. Super clean install, idles nicely, and you can hear that there is something serious is underneath the hood. When you hit it, it goes. No gushing, no harlequin romance novelletes. Just a lot of new horsepower. :D Photos show that "local security" for the "test track" showed up to inspect the builds in the shop. More photos and some video to follow, I promise.
The battery swap is actually one of the easier things to do on this install. Fit in the rear is the task, but with no output back there, there is room with some encouragement. Added a photo that shows the profile of the brakeline clearing the rear and following the contour of the firewall padding if you look in the back, to give some perspective on brake line clearance.
Greatsixone, you need to get moving! She's coming home with me tomorrow. In supercharger time, that's pretty damn quick. We're monitoring MAP and doing the kilopascal conversion to arrive at boost, gauge to accompany my A/f on the cluster when time permits. Happy to see that we haven't maxed out the fuel yet and we're in the 10s for a/f.
hawkman996 06-08-2009, 10:25 PM SWEET!!!!! :D Cannot wait to see videos and more pictures. You must be extremely stoked.
Congrats bud.
Robert0685 06-09-2009, 03:22 AM hey!...who the hell is that douche sitting on my hood?!?!... :D ...jeep seemed real strong today george,to bad i wasnt able to stay long enough to see how she ran with the added fuel.I can only imagine, and i swear to ya i seen some light under that right front tire when u hit it!..now lets go rent the track and get our rides dialed in!...oh yea and that big a$$ cam always did let people know you had something serious under the hood, the TECHCO whine is just iceing on the cake!

Toothmonger 06-09-2009, 07:32 AM woah, I must have missed a post somewhere. Are you keeping the same compression? Or did you go lower. Making me jealous!
Blown-WK 06-09-2009, 07:52 AM Hell yeah George, get that beast on the dyno or the track. I wanna see some numbers.
Muellge 06-09-2009, 08:08 AM woah, I must have missed a post somewhere. Are you keeping the same compression? Or did you go lower. Making me jealous!
Same compression. May put some MLS cometics in there to lower it some in the future. Want to incrementally see what we can get with available pulleys and stock fuel first.
Sure do want to see what times I can get out of this. Eddie should be posting up some photos or vids later today.

Muellge 06-09-2009, 09:04 PM A Torred 06 Jeep. I can't make this stuff up. Eddie was following me home in the E55, and we had just merged on to the highway. We did two pulls from about 50, he hung for about a second or so and then boost kicked in, I thought he was lifting..... I know the guy - he's stopped at my work before. He asked if I had a supercharger in it. I think the whine might have given it away a little. :D. Eddie you can elaborate on the event, you had the best seat. Oh, just take it easy on the way home... too funny.
With just 5.5 of boost and day two into tuning, I am very pleased with the results. Looking forward to fine tuning and changing pulleys in the coming weeks. Some photos of the finished product - we connected the catch can. Its whirring around town now. You can see the shroud trim, smooth. Battery switch came out super clean. Now just looking to get this tuned more as time goes one. Just the beginning.
greatone61 06-09-2009, 09:56 PM Congratulations man, that thing is friggin sick! Wait till you do the pulley changes!
Muellge 06-09-2009, 10:01 PM Thanks. I think Eddie's going to self experiement this week, but I'll leave that to him to discuss.

It is not. Will have to tap the intake eventually.
Baby steps...

Thanks man. I am pulling for yours to get completed to get another one out there. The hood ships tomorrow. So I figure by next week I'll have it, with some luck.
Blown-WK 06-10-2009, 08:22 AM Is something slipping George? You have the built NAG1 right? Sounds like its sliding between gears? It sounds freakin badass though with that blower whine:D Gonna surprise a lot of people at the track.

I can't imagine anything slipping on one of Eddie's transmissions, but no, I am still on the one it came with. With valve body solenoids shifts felt pretty good to me, but my guess is over time it will get to the frayed edge. Expecting that a transmission will be in the future, especially with higher boost on the horizon.
Muellge 06-25-2009, 06:18 AM Update - drove 1 hour to the track last night, apparently some very local showers had the track closed, in little ole Belle Rose, LA.
Any update on the other twin screw blower builds going on? Was hoping they'd be itching to get to the track by now.

Well, we seem to keep breaking heat records here today. 101 and then throw in some humidity for dew point goodliness and it is too hot to do anything outside, let alone queue up in staging . I am thinking Transformers 2 with the son will be a much better event.

Muellge 07-01-2009, 01:23 PM Finally got my boost gauge in there. Readings are very consistent with the kPa conversion from the predator - 5.5 to 6 psi with current pulley set up. These are pretty easy to see. Eddie, thanks for the wiring and locating that powered through startup source in the cabin. Super clean install.
hawkman996 07-01-2009, 01:39 PM Those gauges look badass.....did you have custom faces made for them?

Blown-WK 07-01-2009, 02:17 PM I like the gauges but not the location. I like all my gauges visible and the fuel and temp are hidden. What made you decide against a pillar?
greatone61 07-01-2009, 04:16 PM Hey Gretzky!!;)
Sup homie!!!!!
Muellge 07-01-2009, 11:34 PM Those gauges look badass.....did you have custom faces made for them?
The a/f face was courtesy of Wade CentTexHemi. I can't thank him enough for that kind gesture of sending that face a while back. It was exactly what I needed for the AEM w/b a/f and the guy licked a stamp and sent it to me. I believe it is a printable one with template and you get the logo file for printing on the blanked face template, with set up on print coordinates akin to a label program. The boost gauge is a Mopar for a Neon. MAP sensor mounted under the steering column and powered from the harness feeding the in cabin fuses. T'd into one of the vac lines on the Techco that sees both boost and vaccum. Powered by wire from Cabin Fuse 24, pink with green stripe in that bundle of 20+ wires in the harness for those of you looking to wire a boost gauge and needing that powered source. I figured that this would be a pia to find, but between Eddie and Bones, they had the wiring diagram up on computer and were T'd into the one fruity pink and green wire of 20+ in the cabin harness in about 3 minutes. As you guys prolly know, if you don't get switched power that stays on during crank, your vaccum cycle and gauge reset will be different every time and gauge readings will never be correct.
I like the gauges but not the location. I like all my gauges visible and the fuel and temp are hidden. What made you decide against a pillar?
I liked the stock look of them color wise. Visibility is very easy to see there and yet you can't see them at all from outside unless you're looking at the dash. Personal preference - I don't see that anyone else has them there, so I guess its whatever floats your boat. For any one considering, when behind the wheel, you can see the needles of the temp and fuel. The Neon pods are tapered and open on top (to fit dash of the Neon) so you don't lose the entire gauge behind them. I dremeled the tapered openings down a little bit more to give added visibility, otherwise, yes, I might not see fuel, or more importantly, a spike in engine temp! That and cost, availability and ease of install versus the pillar pod. You can pick these pods up on ebay or any mopar parts site for under $20 a piece, and then drill a hole for the peg on the bottom and another hole for the bolt and then wire down to power source and plug in your sensor feeds. They are perfectly color matched to the dash - medium slate gray. Admittedly, I am sort of particular for preferring the SRT logo on the gauges. :freak5: If left to my own devices, I'd have the thing badged up like a drunken Shriner with a $1000 credit from JC Whitney, but I've kept it tasteful.
All that said, some of the pillar pods do look very nice. Some of this gets to personal taste. Trying to keep them looking stockish, if that makes sense. There are some real colorful gauges out there with lots of audio alerts, multicolor items, etc. I saw the carbon fiber pods in a recent thread, too. Maybe a fuel pressure gauge when I get a FORE fuel pump after pulley upgrade. :up_to_something: For now, this is how I envisioned the thing looking after getting all of the work done.
On that note, this thing has really come together and has been a pleasure to drive. I bought these pods and gauges before I had even gotten my stroker done, to give you an idea on how long I've had these on ice. Figured if I get these, I'll have to get the motor done to make them useful. :D A small detail, but getting this one installed makes it seem like its "done", for now.
Sent out my ss brakelines to get the locator/hangers fixed, just received new rotors and fresh set of brembo pads, and the Eibachs and this stuff will be going on some time next month. I hope to have some time/track updates soon, weather permitting.
Then who knows, maybe a transmission.....
SoonToBeSRT 07-01-2009, 11:45 PM awesome ride man, cant believe i missed this, a blown 426 haha, your livin god i must say. The gauges looks cool, i dunno about location but to each their own, maybe some neon glow in the dark to match the blue already there would be cool but its w/e. UNDERBODY NEON FTW! haha sike, thats so rice, would be hilarious to see on a Jeep though, lime green under the beast lol. Im still in shock how hard this badboy pulls. So once you get the new brakes and all one and do the eibach bumpstop cut or whatever you planned on doing to them, take some more pics and vid. The vid I really want is a cruise around town and a few stomps and then a highway pull with someone who wants to play, rustang anyone?

Thanks. Still can get fancy with some blue led backlighting for the Boost gauge. I think we all agreed that I'd be run out on the Kyoto rail if I put any neon underlighting on this thing, As for the described vids, they're coming....
