Okay, so here's the scene...

A couple of weeks I picked up a Borla S from a fellow board member. A good friend came over and helped me with the install. He was in charge of tightening the bolts that connect the Borla muffler to the pipes off of the cats. He said they were good and tight, so I never checked. Well, since then, I've grown to dislike the borla and it's drone, so I decided to sell it and get a corsa instead. I even have a buyer. Tonight I was going to take it off and put the stock one back on. I started taking the bolts out and one of them must have been cross threaded because I couldn't get it out with all the brute force I could muster, nor could I get it out with my relatively weak impact wrench, so i gave up and decided to tighten it up all of the other bolts and realized that the pipe on which the bolt I couldn't remove was attached wasn't quite seated properly. I tightened the other side down as much as I could to minimize any exhaust leaks until I can get to a shop and have them get that bolt free. I started the car and was very surprised to hear that it was idling much quieter than it had before. So I took it for a drive and it was def. quieter that it had been. The drone at 1800 RPM was still there and IMO, irritating, but it seemed like it could be a bit less loud. For sure, at highway speed, it was quieter. So, I'm thinking that the bolts weren't snug and the pipes weren't seated properly. I'm going to bring it someplace tomorrow, if I can, and have that one side of the exhaust removed and reset and I'll see if that cuts down on the drone any further. I wonder............

The Borla S with Stock headers isn't that loud at all

Get it installed properly and drive it around for a month...You'll get used to it
