: R1's are on and the Jeep is QUIET!!

I got my R1's and Hawk pads on Friday and had them put on Friday night. MAN it's nice driving a truck with no more brake noise. My pads were so bad on the front left it would squeel just driving down the road and of course, the right rear squeeled for about 15K miles now. Everything is super quiet and I'm loving it!! Brakes work like a champ. I will say though however, the normal stopping needs a little more brake pressure. Stopping hard is spot on though. I can deal with needing a little more brake pressure though. Brake dust has significantly been reduced for sure. I haven't wahed the rims but the hand prints have not been covered up yet where normally they would have. When it stops raining here everyday I'll wash her up and then see how long they'll stay clean! All in all..... it was a total of $1100.00 CHEAPER than what the dealer wanted! I'm happy with my purchase by far!!

How many miles in total were on the stockers before you did this? And why so much-i thought rotors were $500 shipped from R1....pads were that much??

Harrison@Stage6

I paid $650.00 for rotors and pads. The dealer wanted $1750.00 for front and rears. I had 51,500'ish on my stock brakes. There was nothing left of them!!:D

Im in the exact same boat as you harrison, Mine make noise just driving down the road.. I was looking at the same rotors with Posi Quiets..What made you go with the Hawks?
Most that ive read about the hawks seem that they are squealy.

Harrison@Stage6
06-08-2009, 01:55 PM
I don't know why I went with the Hawks honestly.... maybe just the deal. Are the Hawks squeely with the stock rotors or R1's? I've been reading about stock rotors and Hawks squeeling. If they squeel..... then I'll change out for something else, but as of now with 500 miles on them, they're quiet as can be. I did burnish them in pretty good. Good enough to where they were smoking like a gun when I brought the Jeep in for the cool down.

You do have to push on the brake pedal a little harder to get some bite. It does get better but not too much better. I think the advantages of these rotors are the looks and the no dust factor.

I can't remember what pads I got, but they came from R1 too, I'll have to dig up the invoice

I've had the Hawks on mine for about 4000 miles and no sound from them yet. Have also used them on other cars with no problems.

Hey Tom, where the heck is Andy these days? I've left numerous messages but haven't heard back.

Harry, congrats I look forward to yours and Chriss results on Wed.

Thanks BTL...... should be a fun night Wed. Hopefully I can pull out a win but not counting on it at all.

Yes Richboi.... it was $650.00 for front and rear rotors and pads shipped. R1's got a pretty sweet deal for us site guys. Kinda hard to beat. They were about $320.00 cheaper than the next guy. That's a Wideband right there.:D

He's around, we just try to keep him buried and out of trouble. Send him a email at sales@modernhorsepower.com, it's the best way to run him down.

Thanks,
Tom.

I gotta get the Jeep cleaned today for the track tongiht and I'll snap some pics.

It'll take you a few days to learn how to stop again. It's not THAT BAD but it a touch harder. The main thing is normal and slow speed stopping. I've noticed driving in my hood for instance. When I stop at the stop signs, you know the usual places to start hitting the brakes. Well, it now requires more brake pressure to stop from that area. I did some datalogging yesterday and got on them hard from 90(since I was in a 45:eek:) and they stopped better than OEM. They really grab hard when you gotta jam on them. All in all...... I love them. Can't wait for the track tonight to see what they'll do at 107+mph.:D
