I'm going to try and clean out my manifold this weekend. Any tricks to clean the oil out? What products should I use?

Are you removing it from the engine or just taking the intake and throttle body off?

I cleaned mine when I installed my ported TB this past monday. Normally I would use parts cleaner but since I was working around electrical components I used some valvoline heavy duty carb & throttle body cleaner. Its pretty much the same stuff just a little less aggressive so just be careful where you are spraying it (electronics/painted surfaces).

I carefully sprayed it onto the intake throat and inside. I used a shop rag to clean gunk off. I repeated this a few times. To soak up the oil in the valley and wipe the walls inside I used a shop rag folded on the end of a longer screwdriver and zip tied it on. Worked pretty good for being ghetto rigged.

You could almost make it spotless if you removed the intake but this worked great for me and saved time and effort.

The best was to clean it us to take of off. Flip it over and undo the bottom plate. You'll be shocked at how much gunk is up in there. That's what we did when we put on my Thermalnators. May as well get some while you're doing this. Good luck.

I took my trottle body off today b/c i wanted to see how much oil was in my intake there was very little and it looked clean for 11500 miles no catch can yet

I just installed my catch can last weekend. Now I have to get the oil out that built up over the last 24K miles
