Saw a modded cobra on a flat, wide open road today, so I decided to see just how modded it was. Raced him from 20 mph-70mph and he was pullin on my pretty hard from 30mph+. Then went from a dig and I beat him off the line but could hear whatever he had under the hood get to work and he pulled on me hard.

When he passed me, he looked over at me like "yea, you got beat", but i gave him a smile a thumbs up, and that broke the ice. At the next light, we talked for a sec, and I meant to ask him what he had done to the cobra '02-'04 it looked like.. but I didnt get the chance cuz he was too eager to ask me what i had in the jeep. He was pretty impressed with how it preformed off the line.

soo, all in all it was fun, and there weren't many people on the road so it was "safer".... only problem was i could smell a burning smell that i know a handful of other people on here have experienced....its been doin it for a while with my jeep when i push it hard, so i think i have a leak or something....not good...any ideas what it is? (could it be affecting performance)?

Hey sorry I missed you today. I got your note. It was so packed, lol. Cool story with the Cobra. No idea on the smell though. I'm heading up to Thousand Oaks tomorrow to have a few things looked at myself.

Nice run, Cool that he gave in and showed a bit of respect. My problem now is finding someone to run, never happens:mad:

*sign* Can we PLEASE make a sticky about this?

It's normal, it's the stickers on the exhaust and/or the normal break in procedure.

I have plans for the drags but I have a newborn and my free (race)time is on my drives around town and for work.

Sounds like it was an '03-04 Cobra and the whine from the roots supercharger is what you heard working under the hood. Racing one of those from a roll is just asking for a spanking. ;)

In this thread, you said no more stickies. Has your opinion changed?

"normal break-in procedure"??

I should hope break-in doesn't take 13,000 miles...

Plus, I've already had the dealer fix one seal leaking.

I had a coolant leak that caused that familiar "overheating" smell, but the dealer just had to order a new cap.

Otherwise, the only burning smell I get is when I'm running the jeep hard and get the burning transmission smell and break pad smell.
