When I bought my GC-SRT8 the dealer told me SRT8 will send me to a racing school ... Was that just a sales pitch? Have you guys heard or gone to one?

Perhaps your salesman was referring to the SRT track experience. I haven't got any info on it yet though.

Try this link. It is free. Worth it. Is included in price of vehicle, and printed right on your Maroney sticker off the window. $300 for anyone else. In fact, base price of SRT8 is going up for 2007, ($200 I think) to cover cost of this.

Steve, the next closest one is in Kansas in July. Are you game?

Echo you should go!!! My friend with an SRT4 still raves about the experience.

350 mi is only 2 hrs and 15 minutes via SRT8! Of course, that is also about $230 in gas...

I am in South Florida and may have to go to Atlanta as Daytona was sold out before I bought my Jeep. Flying will be much cheaper than driving the Jeep for me.

Does anyone know how often they update the event locations? I heard a rumor that Miami was a venue last year.

I believe that you "pay" on the site with your VIN. Has anyone done this yet?

I drove 350 miles from my house to Las Vegas. It was no thang and definitely worth it! In fact, it made for a fun road trip. BTW, someone mentioned an east coast bias. They did the western states the first of the year. Vegas was in February. They'll be back to the west in 2007. They said they are trying to add the new Miller Raceway here in Utah to the schedule. That will be very cool!

You simply register with the last 8 digits of your VIN. I drove 150 miles for the event, but that was to Road America, one of the longest road courses in all of America. It's a 4 mile road course, that will be much different from the oval at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Personally I think a long road course would be a better experience than an oval.
But hangin' on in those banked turns at Atlanta should be well worth the trip also.

I'm seriously considering the one at Watkins Glen on June 28th, but at 255 miles, it turns into a 2 day event..

255 Miles, thats nothing! I am going to Watkins Glen on the 29th, and I live in MI. I will have to travel through Canada to get their and I STILL can't wait to go! I have an entire mini-vacation planned out, involving a stop at Niagara Falls.

You guys might want to even attend 2 days in a row.

If it's possible, I encourage everyone to go! It's a blast--and a bargain even if, as I did, you need to pay. Did it at the Homestead Miami track. I wouldn't call it a racing school but it's definitely a good time.

Is there a time limit on when you can go? I'd rather go on the west coast as it is closer.

Don't believe there is a time limit on the entry you bought with your Jeep. You can go back as many times as you want after that but you'll have to pay again. Go to the website I posted above and email or call them. They're pretty good about answering questions in a timely manner.

Just did the one in SC.....$300 won't even cover the tire wear!.....def. worthwhile.
Cpl thoughts:
You'll get up around 100-mph on the last road course following the lead car.
Drag racing was the lamest of the 3 but still fun.
Traction control works surprisingly well but makes you feel "held back".
The sound of the CAI & Mopar exhaust on one of the 300's makes you FEEL like you are faster but the stock Jeep still spanked it.
SRT10 Truck is the worst...big, slow & awkward compared to the other SRT's.
Crossfire is the sleeper.....best handling besides Viper.
Jeep felt better than Charger, Magnum & 300 on racetrack with pro driver.
I thought some of the other drivers sucked initally.....then I rode with a real driver at the end & realized I suck too :).
Def worth it.....NOT a waste of time, & the instructors are NOT safety/control-freaks!
MHO, YMMV

Canceled atlanta and signed up for Daytona on 07/28/06.

The deadline for signing up for the July 30 event is Friday, July 14. But since there are only 24 spaces available, don't wait or you might miss out completely.

I called them and they said that you have two years to attend the SRT track experience for free after buying your SRT vehicle. I will probably attend the 2007 session in Lime Rock, CT :D

If you have an '06 do you have to attend this year? Or can you go next year?

I attended the track experience at Heartland Park in Topeka, KS and IT ROCKED!!!!!

What a great time. I'm buying an GCSRT8 right now, because I had so much fun with that thing.

Don't miss the opportunity to get to attend one of the track days. It was a total blast!
