Thats an easy question............

Your Transfer Case has taken a dump when you launch the Jeep and the rear tires light up and the fronts don't spin at all

I just replaced mine last week.

Short answer.......When yo sh!t doesn't have 4WD anymore

Also you may notice the front axle binding up when making a tight turn at slow speeds (5mph turned hard over)

Keoni, Heres the deal... Last time I was home my service 4WD light did come on and I did seem to have some sort of binding. Here is the kicker though, Im not doing rear wheel only burnouts and I still have torque steer:confused: I saw somebody post something about a 5 volt reading somewhere, when I get home I intend to dig around more and maybe take it in to the dealer.

Thanks for the response.

Mine read 5 volts.....which means the motor is turned in all the way attempting to find clutch. You can reset it by disconnecting the battery but within 10 miles it says "Service 4wheel drive system".

A new transfer case doesnt really give you any more track advantage as evident me hitting the track right away. 60's seemed slightly better.....the tranny feel is definetly more pronounced. I had some serious binding when I tried to turn into a driveway.

The way i always found out if my transfer case was on its way out was to hit the trac off button and than very very light accelerate between 20-40 mph. Be very light on the throttle during this acceleration and if your tcase is going to take a crap you'll be able to hear it making noise and you'll feel binding through the gas pedal

I was worried about mine John but several vids from racing the last 2 weeks shows all 4 of my wheels spinning when coming out of the water box maybe you could try a similar vid to see if all of yours spin when you nail it

Mine makes a nasty vibration when it tries to give the front wheels traction. And "Mr Squiggles" rears his ugly head on every right turn as the rear wheels claw for traction.

you'd think that over 4yrs of srt8 jeep that they would do something about the weakest link...

But truthfully, is the crappy case to be blamed on Chrysler, or New Venture? You know it is an NV 146 case.

Thanks for the comments, I know my AWD is somewhat working for a couple of reasons.

1st. Im not doing rear wheel burnouts only
2nd. I have Torque steer, that tells me the front wheels are working

The thing that has me curious is the service 4WD light and if I press the button on the dash, I have a pretty bad vibration. I will be home next week and report finding then.

Thanks to all who commented

On a side note, my truck has a heavy vibration under heavy throttle. If I back off the loud pedal, then reapply, all is fine. Over 80mph the vibe sometimes come back. No rear wheel peel, all 4 track strait.

When my first t-case was going out, I did not receive a service warning. I did notice at times when making a turn and getting on it, it was in 2WD. Then at the next turn, it was back to AWD. Keep an eye out for this.
