hey guys...
i own middle east specification Jeep SRT8 ... and wanted the american muscle sound .. so i ordered kooks headers and B&B cat-back...
as soon as i get of the garage shop which is 600 miles away from my house ... i was so happy listening idle till i tested the car ... :( ... i took it down the street and i punched it in {D} and all that happened is that the car it stayed in first gear and RPM would not go above 4000... ... i took it back to the shop and they took it to the dealer and they fixed this and it was a sensor problem... now i have a second problem which is that the engine light wouldnt go off... so i went back home and 600 mile drive, then i took it to my dealer and he reprogramed the main engine sensor and it went away ... now is third problem its that after that 600 mile drive the cat-back is all black and it sends out some black smoke and the smoke has a terrible smell ... the dealer said it was a petrol type issue...
plus the dealer is warning me on voiding my engine warranty
please guys tell me whats wrong with my car ...

I agree with Jordo.

And all you did was install headers for christ sake a simple bolt on mod. Sounds like he crossed the primary and seconday o2 sensors up electrically, if you put a primary o2 sensor which is used for fuel calibration among other things in the secondary spot and vise versa what your describing is what will happen. Ide check your o2 sensors ASAP. And get a new mechanic.

First off the KOOKS headers are NOT what is causing the black smoke, black smoke means your fuel is being burned off incorrectly. Your o2 sensors may have been damaged or he grounded a signal wire or something in that line on the o2 sensors, I know the sensors come with wiring adaptors to extend the wiring to the new mounting locations of the o2 sensors, I would start there and work your way back, personally I think he crossed a primary and secondary o2 sensor wire or a bad catalytic but I seriously doubt that from a new catalytic.

This is the reason I let KOOKS do my install, it went flawlessly.

Yes, black smoke equals a car running way too rich. Kooks has nothing to do with that, it's an install problem.
