I just got my new hot rod go get-em ipod integration kit, and I need to know how to remove the face plate that covers the stereo, air vents ext. I also need some words of wisdom on the glove box removal. I figure it's better to ask before I break something! Any help would be greatly appreciated!:D

Thanks for the installation info, but I have that. I don't know what they are trying to tell me. Obviously they want me to take the panel off around the stereo, but how, pull, pry? Again the same on the glove box. There are no written instructions, and I really don't want to spend 300 clams repairing all the damage from trying to install my $ 200 controller. I guess what I am saying is I can't inteurpereret the mystery tool and details in illistration #2 and #5. It can't be tough, but i do not want to do myself more harm than good!

Use a small pry tool or if you can get you fingers in behind where the radio cover meets the dash and pull...it has metal clips holding it in and just continue to pull it off...it's easy!!! After removing that you will find there are 4 phillips head screws holding the radio in!!! I Didn't use the Glove box for mine I just routed the wire down to the center console...much easier!!!

Thanks, that helps out a bunch. Now if i can pry it off without damage I will be in good shape. It looks like the whole install would only take about 20 minutes or so. How do you like your controller, and which one do you have?

My memory might be foggy, but I thought I heard of a Mopar Ipod integration kit.

Found it, Mopar Part # 82210181

The MSRP on the Mopar part is $135. How does that relate to your part?

I just plug my ipod in to the VES input jacks! Can beat the direct sound quality. The screen just reads that an auxilary device is being used.

total cost: about $12.00 for the cord. :D

will you be able to controll the ipod throught he buttons on the NAV?

The kit is the new one that is a direct connect, and not a fm modulator. i can use the controls on the steering wheel, and the display is supposed to show up on the nav screen. It's about 200 clams.

I believe Slippin got the new direct connect Mopar kit. I ordered mine last week and it should be here on Friday. Can't wait to get it installed.

Do your Sirius preset channels get deleted when you switch between iPod & Sirius?

Here is the part # 82209617. Yes they do. For the most part i only listen to two channels on the radio, so it won't bother me at all.

That would bother me to no end. I use all 12 presets.

I just finished my install, and the pictures really do depict the procedure well. The stereo surrond was easy, just put a flat head screwdriver in the shown gap and slightly pry enough to get your fingers through. Simply pull with enough force to disengage the metal clips. For the glove box,, disengage the side post as shown and then reach up behind the fascia overhang and pull out on the 2 drawer stops until the glove box releases downward. The hubs of the glove box are slotted so that you can simply pull down and completely remove it. If you have any other questions, just ask.

Ok, so the wife loves her Ipod, and also loves Sirius. Can someone explain the loss of Sirius presets? Do you no longer have the ability to set Sirius station presets when you use this option? Or do you simply have to reprogram them?

You apparently have to reset them after EVERY use. IMO, that's ridiculous.

The Ipod controller uses the Sirius "channels" as conduits for information and songs. This is the one frustrating thing about the controller. The system needs to "update" these channels with artist/album/genre etc lists and song lists, and this takes 5 or more seconds to do. For example, if you want to switch from looking at the artist list to a genre list, the system "updates" the channels and there is that 5 second delay before you can select a song. Due to the ipod's usage of the Sirius channels, your presets are cleared.

Are any of you using the Ipod w Video model? I have heard of difficulties using it w/ the new mopar hard wired kit.

Doesn't your screen have to be down for your headunit to even recognize anything plugged into the input of VES? I have a 06 and if I don't have the screen down the head unit won't even give me the option to switch to VES. I'm looking for a way to play my ipod through the head unit without haveing the screen down. I currently use a FM transmitter but on long trip I get tired of having to switch station to get better reception and the sound quality isn't great. If anyone know how to connect the Ipod directly to the headunit let me know.

And yes my Ipod is a Video unit. it would be really nice to be able to use all the functions of the Ipod. Play music through the stereo or play video through the entertainment system. I don't use my Sirus so I wouldn't be worried about that, but would be nice if there was a kit that allowed the use of the Sirius without losing your preset channels and still be able to use all the functions of a video ipod. If anyone knows of any such device please let me know.

Don't forget to remove the screw in the small cubby towards in front of the shifter.
