: Which Orbital Polisher do you use? Anyone have
sy1616 05-04-2009, 07:11 AM experience with the Griots Garage unit....I seems to read a bunch about that one. Porter Cable looks good too as does the Mikita unit.
Anyone care to offer some insight?
Thanks!
Vince
squigmang 05-04-2009, 07:21 AM the pc is a random orbit and the mikita is a forced rotation
the PC is deffinatley a better choice for beginners. I use the PC with great results. it takes a little longer than the Forced direction polishers but can still cut fairly decent
WBSRT 05-04-2009, 07:23 AM I use the PC also, works great no burning the paint.
CTS-Veo 05-04-2009, 07:43 AM I have the Griots Garage DA polisher. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the Porter Cable unit. If not, it's very similar. I love the polisher and all of their products. The only thing I don't like is their polishing pads. I'm going to try different pads next time I polish my car.
Harrison@Stage6 05-04-2009, 07:48 AM I use a Cyclo...... it's a dual head DA polisher. Love it. They also have carpet scrubber heads for it and tile heads too. Use it on your house and ride. It is pricey though compared to others. I would suggest the Porter Cable. It will beat on your hands though.
CentralTexHemi 05-04-2009, 08:20 AM Go with the Cyclo it is a great machine

sy1616 05-04-2009, 10:16 AM Where are you guys buying pads? Are you using different pads for different applications, like polish/wax/etc?
hops23 05-04-2009, 10:22 AM I use the pc.

Theres many options, Heres what ive been using

CentralTexHemi 05-04-2009, 10:49 AM It all depends on the actual polisher you get as to where to get pads, like the cyclo you can buy from Gloss It and they have their own pads specifically made for the cyclo that are pretty darn good.

I used to use those LC CCS pads but have since quit using them as they tend to bounce on the surface therefore not always keeping contact with the surface and not doing the job well. Try the pads from Gloss It or the McGuiars foam pads, they are smooth surfaced and will not bounce

Hey Wade, how do you clean your pads ?
CentralTexHemi 05-04-2009, 11:06 AM http://www.superiorcarcare.net/snappytool.html
The key is to clean them IMMEDIATELY after using I normally let them soak in a 5 gallon bucket of hot water and one bag of the snappy clean for about 2 hours and then take my scrubbing brush to remove the residue and in some cases use the sink spray nozzle and then set them in the garage to air dry
CentralTexHemi 05-04-2009, 11:07 AM Considering this but its a bit expensive
