Seems these engines run a little warm. When I had less than 1K
the oil temp would get up to 207 or so after 10 miles of driving.
Not much difference after short freeway runs.
However last night went on a longer freeway run and the temp
went up to 228! It was 20 yesterday also. Is this normal?
The water temp stays below 215 always.

I also notice that oil pressures are really high (at least to me)
when the oil is cool, say 45 F. I sit in garage idleing for 1 minute
then slowly take off. I'm seeing oil pressures at 80-85 on
gently accelleration until the oil temp gets to 100.
Some may think that high pressures are great but this is not
the case as pressure = resistance to flow and can be a
direct relation to the viscosity of the oil. That is unless the
smart guys that designed this wonderful engine decided that
the bearings needed this high pressure to maintain hydrodynamic
lubrication.

What are your experiences gentleman?

I dont see pressures above 60 but I've seen temps as high as 295 on some 160+ blasts. even 'normal' driving around 120-140 gets it up to 230-240ish. water temp always stays fine right around 215.

The oil squirters under the pistons need high pressure to operate, if they do not see adequte pressure the motor will *tic*. On the Charger SRT8, if your motor starts to make the offensive noise, they will change your grade of oil from 0W40 to a thicker viscosity. They have a neat sticker they put over the fill plug, too.
