: Raced random GC on highway
TheGrandDawg 02-18-2007, 12:32 AM I have only had my GC for a few weeks now and I have seen 4 in that time. Tonight I was messing around with a AC Schintzer X5, and another GC came out of nowhere. My GC pulled from his and I wondered why? I did notice his rear ground effect was a dark color, but mine is silver matching my color. His was also silver, but different rear effect.... Is it an older model than my 07'? Are the 07's quicker than 05-06?
07 and 06 are identical performance wise. The 07s are color matched and the 06 are black in the front and rear.
I get the impression you bought your 07 spur of the moment, as opposed to knowing much about the SRT GC before buying (admittedly, I didn't know much either).
There is a movement of non-SRT WKs being made over to look like SRTs from a body aspect lately. Possibly you ran into one of them.
You've seen 4 in a few weeks?! Wow.... I have had mine for nearly a year and still have not seen another on the road here in Seattle.
Street WK 02-18-2007, 01:00 AM Where are you from?

I saw three alone last week! Taking my running total to 11 (including mine) since March 06'!!! One guy actually lives in my neighborhood, but he only drives it on the weekends. lol
TXBLU 02-18-2007, 07:40 AM I have only seen two other JGCSRT8s since I bout mine a few months ago. One was in a Chili's parking lot South of Dallas, and the other was on a trailer full of hot cars, nose to nose with a new BMW M5. Otherwise, nada.

It was probally an 06 w/out the TSB trans fix.
Mango 02-18-2007, 10:46 AM I'll never understand how someone can go out and buy a performance vehicle, and have NOT done his/her homework prior. I was a member of this board and srtoc.com for months before ordering my SRT-8's.

Not that you're wrong, this is the smart way to pursue a major investment....
But, to provide an example of how this happened in my case... :)
I saw the GC SRT8 at an auto show, and hadn't heard, read or saw anything about one, previously and thought 'Wtf is that thing?!' And my next thought was 'My next vehicle!!!'
To be fair, the reading piled up after that... But, my mind was made up long before I read anything/became a member here. :D
Otherwise, I see two black ones, other than mine, on a consistent basis...

I hadn't done my homework, it was a saturday afternoon and I fell in love after the test drive. I was happy with my SRT RAM, so I did have some knowledge of what I was getting into. My friend owns the local Jeep dealership, and I couldn't refuse the deal. I live in Chicago, IL, and I've been told that IL is one of the largest destinations for the SRT GC.

Chicago has to be one of the biggest destinations for everything, on Earth... Check out the GMP:

$$$$ = Demand. Where you have demand, you have supply. Supplies!!! :D
Kudos on your new vehicle. It's a bad MF. :)

OK, now that is a much better explaination. I'm sitting here thinking you went to a dealership and thought "Hey I want the GC that's sitting on those dubs over there."
Now I see you've been in the family before! :D

Not to be a [censored], but I don't see the shame in this, either... I'm not really a gear-head, I specialize in software, not hardware...
The looks/pimperiffic appearance is what sealed the deal for me... My ride is pimped out! :D
When I saw everything else, HP, skid-pad numbers, big-brake setup, etc... This was a serious hardcore bonus and really reinforced my decision, to be sure...
But the appearance, alone, of these beasts was enough to compel me to buy one. I just think they look that bad-azz, personally... Based on some of the thumbs up I have gotten, I have to assume that I'm not alone...

Nate.... rest assured, you're not alone. I bought mine based on the looks too. The extra power is more of a cool bragging right I can use if need be, but I don't drive fast. I changed my oil once :) and have added 8-10 CAI's on cars, but that is as far as my technical expertise goes. I'm an appearance over performance guy. We just got lucky to get both of those stock with the GCSRT.
OurZoo 02-18-2007, 03:27 PM Best of both worlds for me. Badazz all the way around. It was a no brainer after I bought the Charger for my wife that I HAD TO HAVE THIS BEAST!
SRedrockT8 02-18-2007, 05:37 PM yes the look of the vehicle drew me to it also. when i first saw one i knew i wanted one and knew nothing about them. after reading a bit about them, it just reaffirmed my decision to get one. i didnt know being "part of the family before" was a requirement buy to one.
kramsay1234 02-18-2007, 07:10 PM I needed something that would give me more "utility" but not leave me wanting more performance wise from my former car. Once I got a look at it though, it was all over. Now everytime I walk up to it, I just re-affirm my decision.

ccbatson 02-18-2007, 08:17 PM There are more than can be counted in the Detroit metropolitan area...but, of course, this is the "motor city" with DC US headquarters and tech center in Auburn Hills and all.
