Does anyone else hate having do downshift to 3rd instead of 2nd? it feels like a whole different car when i punch it at a speed thats too high for 2nd gear. whats the official 60-100 time for the srt8?

and yes i understand the aerodynamics issue

at 80 and then wot, it shifts to 3rd - some pretty good torque at that speed

yeah if the speed is high enough 3rd works great...its just if youre doing like 65 its not quite as impressive. still damn good though...love this car:D

I think the TCM is programmed to help "save" the drivetrain from itself/driver. IMO if there was a tune for the TCM that would alow firmer shifts & quiker downshifting the SRT8 would be a whole lot nastier.

in my other vehicles the superchip took care of that...i know its been asked before, but is there a plan to release a superchips tuner for the srt8 anytime soon?

I wouldn't expect a tune soon. There aren't enough of these SRT8's produced to make it worth the tuners to profit. The Mopar PCM/TCM is apparently hard to crack also.

How many Grand Cherokee SRTs do they make every year:confused:

actually from what i know harder and quicker shifts are beneficial to an automatic trans as there is less 'slipping' into gears...the only reason it is the way it is because not alot of people want to drive a car that "bucks" everytime it shifts - although for the enthusiats its fun :D

Yes, I wasn't thinking about the drivers who would prefer the "soft" shifts. I mostly would prefer atleast the manual shifts to be extremely harder/quiker.

johntekin, ~3000 SRT8's made per yr.

Look here for production numbers/distribution by state. If you are not familiar with this site, you will find some excellent information. Check it all out.

Awesome torque, for a Jeep, at this speed. This is my favourite shift actually, this is when you really realize that the well aint drying up any time soon... :D

I let my buddy drive this thing, and he went WOT, from a dig, through 100 mph, and when he went 2nd -> 3rd, his jaw dropped and the only thing he had to say was "Holy $h*t!!" I mean, this is a Jeep...
