Just heard on Fox News that GM is in negotiations to purchase Chrysler from Diamler. God please don't let this happen. DC may not be perfect but GM flushed themselves down the toilet and I would hate to see what would happen to the jeep especially the SRT's under that same type of management.:( :confused: :eek:

dodge is ****ed now. gm will ruin everything if they do.

Also, after end of day trading, WSJ also noted:

"We’re hard-pressed to see just how General Motors would find a way to buy DaimlerChrysler’s Chrysler Group unit, but investors aren’t having such reservations, at least for a short-term trade. Daimler stock is up 4.3% on the day, and Dow Jones Newswires notes that options activity has been particularly heavy, even on calls (options to purchase a share) that expire at the end of the day. "

GM probably won't buy DaimlerChrysler. GM does not have that much cash laying around. Also, Mercedes is so tied into DaimlerChrysler now that it would be very difficult for GM to separate the brands. A sharing of technology would make more sense. It wouldn't surprise me to see SRT engines start showing up in GM cars in the future. And what would we get? Maybe we could learn the secret identity of Mr. Goodwrench. :eek:

I'd find it hard to belive that GM would only buy one division. All of the WSJ reporting has indicated that the spinoff would be the entire Chrysler Group North American operations.

Go do some reading on cnbc.com. They mention that it would JUST be Chrysler brand. Dr. Z himself stated this.

I agree that it would be very strange to just sell that brand.

Very strange...too much is shared with Dodge and Jeep to make a sell off of just one of these three to make any sense to anyone on the selling or buying side of the equation.
