I am excited. I start a new biz territory next week. I live in NY and will be traveling to Beantown on a weekly basis. I perfer to take my beast versus Amtrak or a plane. My route will be Merrit, 91, 90 (or 84) and then Mass Pike and return the same way. This also means that I will be blowing thru CT too. If any of you northeast SRT's see me - give me a rev!!. I have a 2006 black SRT/8 with custom, NY plates! I look forward to a few honks and seeing some fellow enthusiasts along the way.

I live in NJ and occasionally make that exact trip for business in the SRT8. I do it in one long day (leave 5am, home by 9pm).

I'd say the number of friendly waves you get up here will be directly proportionate to the number of New York sports related visual cues you give off either on your person, or your vehicle ;)
Enjoy the commute!

I was doing a day trip too sometimes. I like gettin home if I do not have to stay over - the wife is a great cook! I typically do it in 3 hr 15 min - exactly 196.4 miles from my driveway. With a black "hot rod" and NY plates - I try and stay close to the speed limit - the CT troopers can be rough and our machine is a 'target' for the cop'ers!

well, I can lie and say I am a Mets/Giants fan - BUT, truth be told - it is Jets and Yankees. I'll just keep it to myself on the road!! - lol
I do that tip all the time. backwards from you though. pike to 84 to 91 to 95. I take a rental though as work pays for it anyway usually get a DTS makes for a decent trip.

I usually take the mileage reimbursement. I believe that the US Gov allows us $.48 per mile for 2007. That's real close to $200 for a single roundtrip. I end up making a couple of bucks 'cause I can do it on about $60 worth of out-of-pocket gas cost....plus it is a tax write-off at year end! And I get tolls thrown in!

Well, isn't your reimbursement taxable income, so in effect you can only write off costs beyond what you're reimbursed for?
Anyway, it doesn't really matter. Driving the SRT8 distances has it's own benefits. :D

Correct. Plus, they allow for "wear and tear", which should cover other intangible costs. At the end of the day, as you say, driving the SRT8 is the main attraction!

I don't know about that maf. My accountant tells me if I take the $0.48/mile that covers both gas and wear and tear, so I don't believe you can LEGALLY recoup anything more at tax time.
That's why the rate per mile is so high, to cover gas and wear and tear.

My understanding also.
