On a rare, clear and sunny day in the rainy Northwest I was heading towards my favorite cloverleaf onramp on Highway 26 when this idiot in a Sequoia cuts in front of me. I was forced to follow this slowpoke onto the freeway. When I cleared the merging lane, I jumped into the next lane and hit the gas hard....only to see a cop with his radar gun POINTED RIGHT AT ME!!! Luckily, the Sequoia was so slow I was still under 60, even though I was at full throttle. I backed off quickly and hit the brakes before my heart restarted and....all was well! The cop didn't even try to come after me. Sometimes slowpokes do serve their purpose. If he wasn't there, I would have been well into triple digits because the merging lane is a good quarter mile long.

How 'bout it guys? Do you got any similar stories to share?

I was driving on the highway yesterday doing about 20km over and a cop was coming towards me, he turned on his lights, went by me and turned them off. i was just waiting for him to pull a u'ie but he never did. i took it as a warning

I get so mad when that happens to me, especially when they use no signals and have no reason to get over, but that has saved me as well!

Luck was with you for sure......a guess slowpokes do serve a purpose once in awhile and saved you a trip to jail and license suspension cuz 50+ over would not be good :eek:

Yeah, definitely causes the ole heart to skip a beat. I should've known better because the cops hang out quite a bit in this stretch. Better that I drive a few miles west and there is this half-mile straight-as-arrow road that parallels the freeway. It is always deserted because it is a cul de sac in an area of farms. Its awesome because the westbound freeway traffic sees you flying by eastbound not 20 feet away!

I was stuck behind some cars on the freeway, I was pissed so as soon as I got am opening I floored it, by coincedence I looked in my rearview and saw one of the people waiving by to me....I was thinkin WTF?

Turns out they knew what I had coming....a highway patrol.....110 in a 65

I disagree with slow drivers saving me from anything but anger. Sometimes get stuck behind someone doing 40 all the way to where you merge into a 60mph freeway. :confused: Then people have to brake or change lanes quickly because that dumb idiot doesn't know what the throttle is for and how to merge at the posted speed. If there's an opening and no traffic in the way, I go WOT around the jerk. I rely on my valentine and blinder setup to keep me from the man. So far, so good. :D

love it when this happens. lol too often it has happened to me, either that or other slower traffic "hides" the cop to where i cant see him right as i am punching it...i know they still get ticked since they can hear me, but not too much they can do if i dont bust past the limit before shutting down. lol

All this slow drive freeway merge talk so reminds of the Puget Sound. I spent 2 years up there and ended up buying !!AIR HORNS!! not long after buying my '06.

I rather enjoy using them when well deserved from bad drivers instead of getting physically moved where you can get into trouble. It pisses the offenders off, I know, I've seen them fingers and glares from them. Those slow-down whores! If you just speed up, they just laugh at you and hope you get a ticket, but them AIR HORNS get real personal with them.

I got screwed on friday heading to the inlaws for easter. Same thing- guy doing 112 in the left lane in a 110 zone. I finally lose my mind after 10 mins and "create" a gap by jumping into the right lane and back over. He honks, I flash a courtesy wave and over the crest of a hill I go through 140 on my way to 155...right into a friggin speed trap. Got a ticket...got a talkin to...and the friggin jerkoff goes by and honks an waives. I even tried tellin the officer- "thats the fockin guy that caused it all". There goes my retainer...

Odd... We have lights, sirens and air horns blarring here in Illinois and people can't seem to hear them!!! :confused:
