: Quaker City Raceway 4/11/09
bstebbins0024 04-12-2009, 08:20 AM Ok guys, I made my first runs in the Jeep today. At Quaker City Raceway in Salem Ohio I made 6 runs:
1) 13.059 @103.45 1.829 60' .957 r/t
2) 13.029 @105.39 1.826 60' .925 r/t
3) 13.088 @105.14 1.846 60' .874 r/t
4) 13.173 @104.41 1.827 60' .875 r/t
5) 13.133 @102.98 1.832 60' .845 r/t
6) 13.015 @103.93 1.806 60' .853 r/t
Summary: Terrible reaction times. Every time up, I expected the truck to leap instantly which it did not. There was a very minute lag from floored pedal to acceleration. There were a few other SRT vehicles there, one of which was a 06 black GCSRT8 owned by forum member 06GCSRT. He and his wife and family were great people, and me and my buddy had a great time. Greg was very helpful and cordial. My final and fastest run was against his wife. We both have similar mods ( CAI 180* tstat predator. I have canned tune and bwoody 4" CAI, he K&N CAI and DCX email tune) His wife beat me from the get go. I was a little sceptical about email tunes being better than the canned tune, but when she pulled hard on me from the top of second gear and there was no bog when she hit third, I became a believer. That was the first time the truck was beat all day, and it felt slow when I watched the black beauty pull a truck length on me. Now I will be getting a tune asap. Its amazing the motivation gained from getting beat by a woman! HAHA I am actually very happy that Pittsburgh Raceway Park was closed today and I had to make the trek to Quaker City. There was alot of awesome poeple there today. Greg was even gonna let me run his truck down the track, how awesome is that!? I think Ill be heading out there more often. Now I think the corrected time and mph came out to be 12.85@105.27
Please someone correct me if Im wrong. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share what an awesome day I had. 12's didnt happen for me today though, so Im slightly disappointed :boohoo:
Cheers
Brad
btw, can someone please take a picture of the fuse box where this elusive #39 pink abs fuse is to remove? thanks in advance
chevyconvert 04-12-2009, 08:37 AM Those are respectable times. Did you try any other tune? I have ran my best 1/8 mile times with the 91 OCT Tune instead of the 93 tune.
hawkman996 04-12-2009, 09:37 AM Glad you had fun. Your times look pretty good for just an intake and a tune, but like you said the reaction times could be better. That is very gracious of the other forum member to offer to let you drive his rig. Very cool. :)
Your times at least were fairly consistent and just like HarrisonZ says the last run was the fastest.
What launch technique were you using?
bstebbins0024 04-12-2009, 11:00 AM Sorry guys, I forgot to specify a little more. The last run I switched to the 91 oct, CAI tune. Last run, I just left foot braked with my right just sitting on the gas without any rpm increase, then tromped on it. For the previous 5 runs, I switched from traction control on, tc off, 1100rpm, 1300rpm, and no brake torque. When asking Greg if there was any delay from initial smash of the gas pedal to actual acceleration, he said he had none. I definitely did, and thats definitely what was hurting my R/T. All of my runs were done in D. Now do any of you guys know if the predator tune automatically does the TCM update to allow the trans to auto upshift in autostick mode? I didnt want to waste a run at the track to find out. I had already wasted a run when I got a little too anxious while waiting in the lanes. The 2 in front of me went up to the waterboxes and I assumed that I should move up to the bend to wait my turn. Well the guy slowly sauntered his way up to me, acted like a jagoff and told me to go back to the staging lanes. So instead of 7 runs , I got 6. Im not saying he was a jagoff for making me lose a run, but the way he acted towards me was uncalled for and unprofessional. Oh well, Im a big boy, I can handle it:rolleyes:

Hemi@last 04-12-2009, 12:57 PM Agree - those are very respectable times. The Predator does not fix the '06 1st to 2nd issue. You can autostick it - just shift to 2nd at 5900. As far as RTs go. You can adust the "lag" in throttle response with the Predator. I would not recommend it as it can be too sensitive for normal daily driving. BTW your starting technique is very good and you 60' times are good. When at the track, I try to 'calibrate' the tree in the first couple of runs. For the first run, I try and cut it too close. If I red light, who cares. Then I have a reference of how much to back off. In general, I tromp on the accelerator when the last yellow comes on (vareis track to track). Looking at the green over your shoulder as you go by is a good feeling.

It was great meeting you Brad! We'll have to get together up there again sometime. After you left, my wife let me have my jeep back and I ended up running a 12.87. That was my best time of the day. I'll see if i can find the slip at home. My wife's best time was 13.01 at 105.51mph. Her 60' time was bad tho(2.12 i think). We're assuming she was holding the brake a little too long at the launch. Her RT was .553!! I told her i'm gonna have to keep practicing or she's gonna smoke my times. I outweigh her by 60lbs too.

Yah, he's an awesome guy! LOL I figured anyone that owned an SRT8 would know not to do anything stupid with someone elses truck. Besides, Brad seemed like a good guy.

bstebbins0024 04-14-2009, 08:05 AM Sweet video. The rides look great in the sun. I was thinking about painting mine Balloon White Mica but the Inferno looks great when clean and in the sun. It is showing its age a little though, especially on the rocker panels from daily driving. Maybe Ill just give it another Inferno respray. I definitely want to be there for the LX nationals in july. I want HCI, 90mm TB, springs by then and Im gonna do a tune this week. Im gonna call Tim and get the ball rolling here today. My buddy wants to tow the bike out there, so Im gonna get a Curt hitch put on. I need one for a jet ski anyway. Id like to see some more SRTs out there, its a great track!

That's wild! I've been debating on putting a hitch on mine too. I have a Jet Ski that has been sitting in my garage since i got the jeep! I'm dying to haul the waverunner with my jeep.
You'll have to let me know when your buddy takes his bike. My buddy's friend has a bike that he wants to race too! We'll get a whole group of guys over there. We sometimes head over toward Pittsburgh too.
I sent Tim a message this morning letting him know you'd probably be calling him. They're supposed to be working on my new tune. I sent them all the info from my data logging last week. Hopefully i'll have it by the time we run again.
