For those who own one of these units. Does the GPS memory (for false alerts that you have set) reset after a certain amount of time if the power is taken from the radar detector (i.e. the accessory cigarette lighter plug or hardwired to an accessory wire/fuse).

I plan on hard wiring my new 9500i, but before I did I wanted to check with other members about using the accessory turn on/off for power and if it will affect my settings for false alerts I have marked.

I have my ix hardwired and haven't lost any of the saved locations yet.

I have the "I" and the same thing. It turns on everytime I start the car (or off conversely) and it stores all of the codes just fine.

I'm assuming that it has some sort of flash memory to store the loc/freq as that would be significantly cheaper than a battery back up. This being said, I cannot confirm whether or not it would lose the stored codes after an extended time off (1 month, etc.)

As an aside I really like my 9500. I had the 7500 and 8500 before and this one is much better all around imho.

Thanks Guys, that was the info I needed. I also have a 7500, which I bought back in college. I was using it until yesterday when I upgraded to the 9500i. I plan to use the 7500 in another car, it works great, but I wanted the ability to silence "known" false alerts permanently

the V1 is better boyss cmon, arrowwsssss, you know whether to speed the hell up or slow way down and where to look and/or tune hehe, come on now, Dr. V did something revolutionary imo, either way IX is sick tho, GPA and all, win win i guess ,pays for themselves over and over again ;)

It never fails. If an Escort Radar detector is mentioned there is always a comment about the V.

I am sure the V is nice, but I like the false alert blockout feature which I why I bought the Escort. Now if the V wants to get with the times and add some new features it might be the dominant player again.

Too each their own. I just think it is funny that the V came up in this post when it was specifically about GPS (something the V does not offer)

The V also doesn't offer a model that is updatable for red light cameras and speed traps, in addition to the GPS.

I have a 9500i and a 9500ix hard-wired in two different cars. Both retain marked signals.
