You rule paul thanks!! Did you gain any top speed compared to stock. I can go 270 kph or 155 or 160 mph. I run out of hp to push her past 5800 rpm in 5th.

Oops forgot about that question sorry bro

Top i got after blower was 165-167mph with 3 friends onboard.....BUT last time i tried that the damn predator settings weren't at the highest speed setting After Vortech's canned tune

Kinda scared to do it again but i will just for you! AND tape it!

Speed limiter is now raised! Thought it was before....damn! Still had plenty of steam!

GREAT!!! Better than stock as i remember i used to have some problems with the rear wheels spinning in the rain! Not anymore

2nd slips a little at times...about 20% of the time...doesn't bother me...

Changing fluids next week.....Just hit 21,000 miles.....oops a little late :o

Did the vortech kit come with new fuel injectors?

SJG3RD

Paulie,

I thought the MPG thing was an issue with running larger injectors and them not being "worked" as hard as the stock ones and thus the higher than usually MPG.

Let us know, curious to find out how accurate that is.

Yeah ive heard with the new injectors etc. the in dash mpg stuff goes out the window because its all based off stock fuel rates.

Just what I was thinking...

Team SRT has said:
"The average fuel economy is calculated by the PCM using current engine conditions including injector size and pulse width. When you increased the injector size (and the PCM decreased the pulse width with the LTFT) the PCM thinks the fuel flow is much smaller than it actually is and the reported fuel economy is higher than actual. The value of the LTFT is unrelated to the fuel economy calculation."

That would be sick if it were true....but more than likely the PCM/mileage computer not calculating correctly after upgrading. IMHO.

As long as what the wife looks at shows better mileage is all that matters. Ive never been over 16 mpg, and I can show her the pic of Paulie getting better than 20mpg and say its a mod that will pay for itself- even if that is crap.

Fuel is calculated with injector pulse width. If you are running a tune it won't work right.

My turbo gets 32mpg on the highway :D

Oh, and one more thing, if your fuel rate of burn is off, your "miles to empty" is useless too. AND if you have an aftermarket fuel system with the pumps mounted higher than the stock pickup... forget it, dont ever run with less than a quarter tank.

Gee Paul, next we'll hear that the Vortec is hooked into the driver's seat to provide a massage (with a happy ending) LOL

Winston, Does only a tune throw the calculator off or is it the tune with bigger injectors ?

Yeah 20mpg right. Sorry man prob more like 11 with that.

haha why you guys have to rain on pauls party lol, but seriously he prob gets like 15/16 you think cause even with the vortech and injector upgrade he is getting way more air into the chamber and even though more gas too when he idling around town, he will get way more efficiency and ultimately end up saving a mile or two no? general concepts of the chem and well our 6.1s would suggest this depending of course on all the tuning and timing and things like that but assuming any professional installer knows what they're doing, they will get you an extra 1/2 mpgs around town ;) not WOT though for sure hehe,

Get on your local highway at a high rate of speed and find a nice down hill spot. Reset your MPG's while keeping your foot completely off the gas and coast your way to amazing hybridesque type numbers...............at least till you have to give her a little throttle again :D

I'm sure you could draft an 18 wheeler. Works for me getting 20+ more miles to the gallon in my unaerodynamic mini cooper s.

With the Stage 2 injectors. The Jeep gets 12.1 MPG on the highway doing 75-85 MPH

This was my calculation from NC to PA last week (7+ Hr. Drive)

Vinny was behind me the entire way with a stock Jeep getting 14.5 MPG

20.7 is redic, def downhill, neutral coasting with a tailwind lol, but in all seriousness, what do you think stock Jeeps cruising at 80 would get behind an 18 wheeler vs. the open road ha, any big saves, just wondering if it has a significant save?, damn wind resistance is a *****,

Ha, I bet if we raced in a vacuum we could own every car on the road, ALL OF THEM!

How the hell would an average mpg increase that much going downhill? Where is a hill that long and steep....

It was steady driving on the freeway up and downhill....

SCAM
05-13-2009, 09:28 PM
Its just a miss calculation caused by larger injectors. It has nothing to do with up hill or downhill.
