So the Srt-8 suspension/ all wheels drive ends up saving a pricey "driving while intoxicated" citation. So me and a couple friends where on our way home from the bar.... (i wouldnt say i was drunk, or sober) so we are driving along.......driving a long.....and all of a sudden drunk friend from the back says oh ****, here it is, make a right! this righthand turn was approaching in about 10 yards....... so i smash the brembos.....they grab as usual...... the high speed 90 degree turn would flip most vehicle's......the srt-8 took a very smooth cut at it......just as i started to smile i see a cop make the same turn behind me......we pull into the first driveway and get out......the cop was pulling to a stop on the side of the curb as we all three get out and run to the back yard and start fence hoping down to our friends house. the cop never put his lights on or yelled at up.....i think the srt-8 had the cop confused as to how fast i actually made the turn due to the way it handled......thankfully he decided against the pursuite!! Thank you SRT-8!

haha.....if you guys didnt see.....i said i was not drunk, but not sober. (i didnt go to the bar to get smashed) You guys all know if you get pulled over at 1 a.m and they smell any sort of alcohol on your breath you can definatly be harassesd. Maby wrongfully taken to jail. Chill out you guys......Have ya'll never gone to a bar, and then drive home??????? just cause you go to a bar doesnt mean your hammered....... my point was this........ if i would have been in any other car it would have slid out...... and that would appear to the cop as a "drunk driver." therefore, he would probably want to take me in. Thanks for all the concern!! GEE

bye the way, if i was drunk i never would have made the turn!

If you weren't drunk, why did you run.

If your story is true, the cop would have taken your plate number, and showed up at your house anyway.

Silly little boy. The good thing is that you'll grow up at some point.

Hunter
02-11-2007, 06:53 PM
yeah.... ok buddy.......you must not know too much about law? Would that cop have a case? no. just because its my plates, doesnt mean without a reasonable doubt that i was actually driving the car now does it? The city doesnt like playing court cost and fees when they know there is no case! If you get away from the cop/ situation while no lights are on why not save the possibility? we WALKED up the side of a house and went in the back yard and hopped some fences to get down to a friends house..... Dont appriciate you talking down at me like that. what's the point man.

Seeing anyone hop over a fence after jumping out of thier car is way beyond a reasonable doubt. An maybe you dont know how the law works, no city in the country would pay the court costs. That what they have people like you for.:D

I am 22 and have a SRT-8 but I don't drink and drive. Even if you are not drunk and you can drive perfect you can still get a DUI. No point in spending all this money on this car if you can't drive it.

Wow, this is an "interesting" read, to say the least. First off, from your incoherent grammar and 3rd grade spelling, I wonder if your parents know you are using their computer, let alone, driving their car. Had I seen you driving like you described, and for whatever reason, not been able to catch up to you, you betcha' that either myself or one of my buddies would be sitting at your house by time you got home to make sure you were, in fact, lawfully operating your dad's SRT8. And no, maybe I don't have "reasonable doubt" at that time that you were operating the vehicle.... I guess it's a good thing I only need probable cause to stop you (there is a difference, look it up :)).

But all this DUI talk is really after the fact, because I would have stopped your dad's SRT8 as soon as I saw the 10 year old driving it and saved all this headache.

And he continues........from my PM=

"HAHA.....i like your post...... But you will be all so irritated by the fact that i am 22 years old...... probably make more money than you.....and have a SRT-8 in MY name (half paid in cash)!!!! join the jeep liberty forum if you wanna act like this!!! wow...."

"Oh i can drive the hell out of it! I'm 22 and sorry bro.... i went to a bar! holy ****!"

Ok... let me fix what I said. You can't drive your car legally after you get a DUI. This thread would stop sooner than later if s/he would stop with the lame PM's to all the members.

We certainly can. Though his behind the curtains pm's and internet tough guy talk kinda leads me to believe he's got some lessons to be learned before we'll see any results. Let's just hope all of his learning comes at no greater price to him than personal pride. I'd hate to see him, or someone else, get hurt because of his childish choices.

Hmmmmmmm..... I wonder if this forum's IGNORE feature works on pms too? :)

Guys, I can't take the "holier than thou" approach here. (setting the goofy story above aside for a minute)

I go out with my buddies, or with the girlie, knock down a few, and have to come home. I'm sure most of us do this... Are we drunk? No. Will the crazy-ass suburban cops think so? Maybe.

It just amazes me how ANY drinking and then driving is just villified in our society. Along with smoking and not having your kid in a car seat. When I was a kid, dad would get all F'ed up, throw me and my friends in the back (the back back) of the station wagon, and chain smoke Marlboros with the windows up until we got where we needed to go. And I made it just fine.

We need to get back to our pioneer roots, where life and death were just accepted, and people didn't expect to live forever.

I'm grateful that most don't think and act like that; my wife and kids are out on the road today.
