BOYCHIKS 04-06-2009, 12:56 PM What about a new srt? Is there a definite yes for that yet? I've heard the rumors..
barho 04-06-2009, 01:04 PM What about a new srt? Is there a definite yes for that yet? I've heard the rumors..
Resume say no, not for 2011. May make it back in later years, but no info at this point.
Short answer, if anyone on here has yet to get one, and was hoping for a new 2011 with the 6.4L, better buy an 09 or 10, or risk missing out forever.
Vinnysrt8 04-06-2009, 02:22 PM U JUST MADE MY DAY THAT IT NO MORE SRT I AM SO HAPPY THATS IT MY JEEPS GOING IN THE GARAGE AND SLEEPING FOR A LONG TIME..
Na i am still gonna drive it but i will be really happy if that is really true no more srt8.
ajharman 04-06-2009, 02:30 PM Yea true that vinny. Cut em off
kokanee13 04-06-2009, 02:35 PM I hope they don't make any more! It's just better for us in the long run. 4 years, 10,000 made. A very rare collectors item!!!

Yes very true...
navyavi469 04-06-2009, 02:52 PM By the time the next "WL" platform SRT debuts, it will be so friggin ridiculously hard to tune that you won't have reliable mods available until 2015. The SRT Jeeps are the finale of the second round of the American Muscle Car Era.
1BAMFR 04-06-2009, 03:04 PM U JUST MADE MY DAY THAT IT NO MORE SRT I AM SO HAPPY THATS IT MY JEEPS GOING IN THE GARAGE AND SLEEPING FOR A LONG TIME..

Vinny, Just start driving backwards
Vinnysrt8 04-06-2009, 03:23 PM That only the old cars,
Murfman 04-07-2009, 02:26 PM Owning a Neon SRT-4 along with the GC SRT-8, I have to say unless the new SRT-8 (If it is made) is WAAAYYY better than the current one we have no worries. The Caliber SRT-4 has more refinement, and horsepower than the Neon, but the Neon has a cult like following which is keeping the resale price on clean examples pretty high. I have been offered 18K for my car with 41K miles on it (2005 ACR) and I only paid 21K out the door back in 2005. The new Grand looks like it is going to be bigger and heavier than the current one, justlike the Caliber vs. Neon scenario. Either way I don't mind. If they build a new one I will be tempted to step up and get one, if they don't, I'll have the dash and door panels on my current one redone in leather and suede. ( The ONLY thing I dislike about my 06 is the dash and door panels. The 08s are an improvent, but not enough in my book)
ITS A JEEP THING 04-07-2009, 06:05 PM I hope they don't make any more! It's just better for us in the long run. 4 years, 10,000 made. A very rare collectors item!!!

As I had mentioned awhile back, NO SRT model is planned for the 2011 model year.
YoungMedic23 04-07-2009, 08:20 PM Great no more Srt8 Jeeps!!!
New pic is ugly anyways!
I like being 1 of 5 Jeep srt8's in 500,000 in my city!!! Only blown one!!!
thesrt8 04-07-2009, 09:17 PM I'm excited to see what it really looks like. Everything so far has been computer generated. Anyone know when it will be available for purchase?
ResumeSpeed 04-07-2009, 09:20 PM http://www.wkjeeps.com/2011/2011_gc_004.jpg
GreenMachine 04-07-2009, 09:27 PM Not impressed... But, an SRT package on that thing might be a whole different animal. Looks like we won't see that though.
thesrt8 04-07-2009, 09:54 PM http://www.wkjeeps.com/2011/2011_gc_004.jpg
Isn't this a computer generated image or an actual press release? Well, we'll find out tomorrow. But, even if this is the final version, it may look better/different in person and with a better color scheme.
BlackJeepSRT 04-07-2009, 10:06 PM ****. If they cut them off, I'm going to have to buy another one. :p Only 10k so far, maybe 2k more in 2010. It sucks I won't have a replacement after 4 years, but the rare factor sure is sweet.

ResumeSpeed 04-07-2009, 10:39 PM I wouldn't be so sure, check this out......
Correct, as reported here awhile back the SRT division is going to continue... but the Grand Cherokee SRT is, at this time, on hold. There will not be a 2011 model year Jeep SRT.
SRTLUVR 04-07-2009, 10:40 PM Gotcha. Thanks dude. :) Good call.
kokanee13 04-07-2009, 10:41 PM I don't like it. It lost it's aggressive, mean, badass looks. It looks like a Honda now. Paul's hood won't work on it either. HA
HOJeepster 04-07-2009, 10:49 PM Looks like every other SUV out there, rear end of an X5, lexus wheels, Audi interior gauges. Blaa.
Gambino 04-07-2009, 11:04 PM WOW! I wonder how much the JEEP® HURRICANE is going to cost. That bad ass truck has two 5.7L HEMI's in it. One in the back, and one in the front. The wheels can crab, too. What a beast of a off roader
GodfatherSRT8 04-07-2009, 11:14 PM BMW called and they want their rear end back. Not feeling it at all. Looks like I'll be back in 2010 for another SRT.
hound 04-07-2009, 11:38 PM I am hoping they follow the same path they did with the WK. It was released in 2005 but the SRT was not released until the next model year, 2006.
YoungMedic23 04-08-2009, 12:23 AM I pray they don't make an SRT with that model!
Looks like a god damn Acura MDX slept with a Saturn Outlook!
ajharman 04-08-2009, 05:34 AM I hope they cut them off as well
Murfman 04-08-2009, 06:01 AM I have always been a fan of the first gen Grand Cherokee. I thought the 2nd gen was a step backwards, I guess that is why I kept my ZJs for so long. When I first saw the 3rd gen Grand Cherokee I was sick, I thought it was an ugly POS. I thought I would stick with My modded 98 5.9 Limited for ever. Then I saw the SRT, to me it is unbelieveable how a Fascia, skirts and wheels transformed the look of the WK. Hopefully the same can be done with the 4th gen.
Murfman 04-08-2009, 06:10 AM After looking at the pics more, I think it is worth it just for the interior. That is a huge leap forward from the current Grand Cherokee. I'm thinking I want an Overland with the Air suspension and Quadra Drive II to drive, and retire the SRT to a "Toy" I wonder what the tow rating will be with the VVT Hemi? Maybe I can tow the SRT to the track with it :D
MIKE SRT8 04-08-2009, 06:16 AM I have always been a fan of the first gen Grand Cherokee. I thought the 2nd gen was a step backwards, I guess that is why I kept my ZJs for so long. That is very true.
Rambit 04-08-2009, 06:22 AM I pray they don't make an SRT with that model!
Looks like a god damn Acura MDX slept with a Saturn Outlook!
Oh you're just saying that! How ya doin' Paul? One thing I noticed is they're going with Garmin navigation. Hard to imagine it as an SRT8 in 2012. It's bigger too.
The vehicle’s 114.8-inch wheelbase is 5.3 inches longer than the model it replaces and contributes to an overall vehicle length that is 1.8 inches longer than the prior model. The longer wheelbase creates more interior room and gives passengers an additional 4 inches of rear-seat knee and leg room. The vehicle also is 3 inches wider. The front doors have larger openings — by about two inches in height and width — while the rear doors open wider — 78 degrees versus 67 degrees — for improved access to the interior.
For added passenger comfort, rear seats recline 12 degrees. There’s also a 12-degree forward angle to allow 24 degrees of variation. Cargo volume behind the second-row has increased by 6.8 cubic feet, to 36.3 cubic feet total. An available fold-flat front-passenger seat provides even more cargo storage room. An all-new power rear liftgate is available, controlled via the key fob.
Hey, how'd that poster of your car turn out?
Bernie
Rambit 04-08-2009, 06:49 AM RS, you checkin' out the webcast this morning - http://www.icastmediaproductions.com/webcast/tvs/chrysler/nyc/nyc_1_2009.htm?
Bernie
TonySRT8 04-08-2009, 07:23 AM I guess the good news is IF they do make a 2012 GCSRT8. Those of us who already own one will have the option to keep what we have or upgrade if it is a better model.
Sort of how my cousin is trading in his CTS-V1 for a new CTS-V2
a-kon 04-08-2009, 07:52 AM Give me a new srt8 with a 6.4 and 7 speed and if it is correct I would pay up to 65 for it (assuming interior is up to par which the version appears to be). Even better if they stuffed the new viper motor in there
a-kon 04-08-2009, 07:57 AM better shots just posted if someone didn't already post them. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/08/new-york-2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-first-live-shots/
I am sorry but this thing is gonna look damn good in person. If they bring the vents back from the 5.9L and do it correct with an aggressive style and hopefully some light weight 21's...it is gonna be one bad ass machine
It looks like an extended BMW X5 on steroids.
thesrt8 04-08-2009, 08:00 AM The interior is much nicer. It can finally compete with other makes based on the interior. I'm sure the feel of the materials is better (can't get worse)! The exterior will look better in person and with a different color scheme, I'm sure. This may be a laredo model...who knows.

It does look better in silver! I'm sure it will look good in black with mods.

ryangibby 04-08-2009, 08:08 AM Its pretty sleek!
I feel like its lost some of what makes a jeep a jeep you know?
The front is a little VW Touareg-ish and the back a lot like the older BMW X5's...but maybe change is better who knows?
Overall though, I think it looks pretty nice, and in black with a few mods ( like ^^ mentioned ) and its a different story
CentralTexHemi 04-08-2009, 08:25 AM I like the rear flash light-LOL
Rambit 04-08-2009, 08:31 AM How many checked out the webcast? It's available for 30 days after an hour or so. Some damn fine features.
Bernie
hound 04-08-2009, 08:41 AM Just watched it. I got to say that it looks so good! I can only image what an SRT version will look like. (fingers crossed)
ajharman 04-08-2009, 08:46 AM Sorry but I like my 06 better. Meaner and sharper I think. Still nice but Ill take the original srt8 jeep any day
scottina06 04-08-2009, 09:40 AM I think it looks pretty sick! Cant wait to see the suspension at work
Vinnysrt8 04-08-2009, 10:00 AM Looks nice but they wont make that an srt it looks like a nicer version of a pacifica.
1MEANGT 04-08-2009, 10:08 AM I like it a lot! Pretty sleek. The interior looks very nice as well. I think a SRT8 version would look pretty sick. Hope they make one.
ITS A JEEP THING 04-08-2009, 10:09 AM Detailed info on the 2011 Grand Cherokee will be posted here in just a few hours (midnight EDT):

As I had mentioned awhile back, NO SRT model is planned for the 2011 model year.
Good looking out ResumeSpeed, good link.:)
Vinnysrt8 04-08-2009, 10:16 AM So this means save ur srt in 20 - 30 they will worth money
promo718 04-08-2009, 10:28 AM a step forward on all counts. i'm especially a fan of the new suspension - a controllable air-ride with sport and comfort settings alone makes the next gen jeep srt desirable in my eyes.
Juggernaught 04-08-2009, 10:31 AM One thing I find curiously lacking is any mention of a 3rd row seat. I thought the new, larger platform was supposed to replace the Commander and therefore offer a 3rd seat option. I really don't mind, but this feature was what justified the bigger size (so I thought).
Dumb question but isn't there going to be a MY 2010 WK Grand Cherokee??
07SRTDave 04-08-2009, 11:22 AM Hard to imagine that with an SRT option.
They better put something very appealing under the hood....
GreenMachine 04-08-2009, 11:36 AM I still don't love it but time will tell. I guess I'm just too attached to what I have.
brianm 04-08-2009, 11:48 AM i like it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Great overall video about it.
I will definately be getting one with 20" wheels though, so no Laredo for me thank you
thesrt8 04-08-2009, 12:18 PM ^Nice video. It actually looks pretty good and clean in black..the fastest color:) The features seem great...I think it can leapfrog a lot of other SUVs out there.
Don't underestimate the SRT team. They can get an average (or ugly car like the Magnum) and make it look and perform amazingly! I'm sure they can do that with this new GC as well. BTW, the two tone interior looks awesome.
navyavi469 04-08-2009, 12:28 PM Umm.. where's the dam third row seat!!!!!
PROBABLE CAUZ 04-08-2009, 12:33 PM looks like a hyundai sante fe from the side. curious to see how an SRT would look. guess we will all have to wait a few years
barho 04-08-2009, 12:34 PM Umm.. where's the dam third row seat!!!!!
I was thinking the same thing. No mention at all in that video, or during the official reveal, of a third row seat. Guess it got axed at the last minute?? Resume??
Jtrain 04-08-2009, 01:08 PM BMW called and they want their rear end back. Not feeling it at all. Looks like I'll be back in 2010 for another SRT.
What's their phone #, I got a few things to say to them. :habbobuggs:

It looks a lot like the GLK from angled front view. I am praying they release an srt8 because I cannot wait to add one of these to my garage and turbo charge it
YogiSRT8 04-08-2009, 02:57 PM I dont see anything special enough that would make me want to trade in my current SRT. Honestly i like the interior and exterior of my 07. It would take a serious powertrain type improvement for me to want to upgrade. This new jeep doesnt seem like the same jump as say the c5 to c6 corvette. When the c6 vette got release i was like WOW. With this i am just kinda like eh, whatever. Maybe its because its not an SRT.
navyavi469 04-08-2009, 02:59 PM I am planning on buying one for the wife in late 2010. I will wait for 2011/2012 for the SRT.

That is funny, when They brought out the C6, I went Ewww. The Grand on the other hand compared to an 08-09 Overland (Or any non-SRT WK) is a Huge step forward. It does seem to me that being that much wider and somewhat longer, it will lose some of the agility that the WK has. But Damn look at the dash and interioir pics. All I can say is Damn. I hate the Rubbermaid dash/door panels in my 06.
Murfman 04-08-2009, 03:36 PM sweet interior....probably best in class---
That interior is ALMOST nice enough to get me out of a SRT and into an Overland, ALMOST!!
Guess I'll have to see if a SRT version is coming, if not My wife ma be getting an Overland and the SRT-8 may be sharing "Toy" Status with my SRT-4
QBNKID 04-08-2009, 03:51 PM I think the jeep engineers did a great job in delivering an outstanding SUV once again. I believe they heard our prayers especially about the interior, I know there are going to be features that some of us won't like or have not yet grown into it yet, but overall this could be the best Jeep Grand Cherokees ever as far as a whole package kind of deal, I'm talking from exterior, interior, materials used, suspension, ride quality, new V6 motor introduced with better gas mileage and better performance... and new improved 5.7L HEMI with almost 400 horses (360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque)... just WOW!
Yeah... I also want my wife to trade her 2002 Grand Cherokee for a nice 2011 Overland to keep my SRT8 some company, because my SRT is a keeper (I hope) :D.
scottina06 04-08-2009, 04:01 PM I have a feeling the SRT Jeep will be back in 2012....but in order for that to happen...this Jeep has to do well....which i think it will.
MIKE SRT8 04-08-2009, 04:02 PM The ergonomics are so much better in the 2011. I like the way the step mode is on the steering wheel, so much safer than selecting(and taking your eyes off the road) as on the current model! An SRT8 would be fabulous on that platform.
navyavi469 04-08-2009, 04:28 PM If I can point out anything good, its that they will reuse the W5A580, which means if the GEN III hemi is maintained, that all the bolt-on goodies from the current SRT8's will drop right in to the WL platform.
Different wrapper, same guts. Jeep FTW

According to the preliminary specs only the 3.6L will get the W5A580. The hemi gets a 545RFE Automatic, Multispeed:
Three planetary gear sets, one overrunning clutch, with Electronic Range Select (ERS) driver interactive control, electronically controlled torque converter clutch.

+1. The design seems better in different colors. That black and tan interior is plain awesome. Definitely the best GC package to date. I'm sure the 2012 SRT, if it happens, will be heads above our current version. How can it not? The new GC is better in every category (design is subjective). BTW, what trannies are offered with the new GC (5 spd, 6spd, or more)?

Hey Builder Bill, time to get crackin on this one...if I"m not mistaken, these were in plenty of earlier jeeps! Not sure about the electronic TC though.

barho 04-08-2009, 08:36 PM Haven't seen anyone mention the dual exhaust for the 5.7L versions. Pretty sweet.
The adjustable ride height is awesome.
And, 20" wheels on a non SRT GC......love it!
Chick_Slayer 04-08-2009, 10:18 PM ^Nice video. It actually looks pretty good and clean in black..the fastest color:) The features seem great...I think it can leapfrog a lot of other SUVs out there.

At first glance, I thought it was a Mitsubishi Montero. Overall I thought it looked very generic from the front and side angles.
I do like the back, the rear bumper curves are beautiful. I dislike the tailgate handle smack in the lower middle of the door, guess its convenient short soccer moms. The rear window now has a deflector, should eliminate the annoying rain saturation on the current rear window, an issue that I think annoys everyone else as well.
I saw spy picks of the 2011/2012 SRT, the rear muffs are separated, right/left side integrated through the rear bumper. The pics are somewhere on wkjeeps.com
I like the directionals integrated into the side mirrors.
I like the independent rear suspension, single axle setup like the current Jeeps, should only be on pickups, not SUVs.
The interior seems to have all the luxury amenities not found on American cars...I'm excited to see what it feels like..lol. Not loving the steering wheel tho, reminds me of the 06 version.
Just my humble opinons.
QBNKID 04-08-2009, 10:28 PM Hmm, I just noticed they stepped down on the axle ratio to 347:1 from 373 that currently the 5.7L & 6.1L WKs have.
I wonder if an SRT8 jeep will be available in 2012 will come with the 347 axle...
What would that do to performance (60ft) in comparison of us with a 6.1L and 373 gears to a future 6.4L (392) and 347 gears??
Edit: And the Overland weights as much as 5210 Lbs
jeepmaster 04-09-2009, 07:07 AM So I'm driving to work today and see a new Acura MDX and thought damn that looks just like the 2011 GC. Hmmm Just add the 7 slot grill.

A little...but you're going to find some similarities with all SUVs (except the Aztec)! I think they (Jeep) still maintained it's heritage styling while streamlining it...which is what they have to do to increase sales.

I just realized this is sort of a repost, but WFH.
BlackJeepSRT 04-09-2009, 08:20 AM Air ride?
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 04-09-2009, 09:34 AM looks alright, but it looks too much like an Audi IMO. still happy with my 07'
FLACO 04-09-2009, 09:39 AM No cupholders?????!!!!!! That stupid control is in the same spot on my BMW and I HATE IT!
skoobz2001 04-09-2009, 09:46 AM It does look like the Audi Q7. It looks REALLY high - too bad there will be no SRT to see how this platform would look as a Beast.

You got cupholders that pop out of the dash though. Don't like em?

I think by "stupid control" he meant the knob for the terrain settings that looks like the IDrive. That control is only for the different terrain setting/ride height, does not control radio/navi/climate/everything FLACO.
As for the cupholders. My guess is that rectangular piece to the right of the shifter hides the cupholders and when depressed seemlessly opens and hides itself into the right of the centerpiece.
MIKE SRT8 04-09-2009, 04:08 PM Haven't seen anyone mention the dual exhaust for the 5.7L versions. Pretty sweet.
The adjustable ride height is awesome.
And, 20" wheels on a non SRT GC......love it!
If an SRT8 version becomes available what's the betting they will offer a quad exhaust tips like the Lexus ISF?
moparman505 04-09-2009, 08:47 PM I think the looks will grow on us. Thank God they finally got some rear seat room by extending wheel base. We can't even get a 3yr old in with seats set back. With some decent ground effects this could be a real sweet!

The cup holders are to the right of the gear shifter. On the limited and Overland, the cover slides open. On the Laredo, there is no cover. All models have the illuminated cup holders there though I think.
