: Thinking of getting an Srt8
bwheeler0018 02-11-2007, 10:46 AM I am thinking of getting a Srt8 jeep and i was thinking of leasing it. I was wondering what everyone thinks of the lease plan that jeep has. The only reason I would lease is because I always get new cars every 3 years. Any help would be great.
Beltfed 02-11-2007, 10:55 AM I would still buy and sell it in 3 years vs. leasing it.
People have leased them, but its nothing to write home about.
If your credit is ok and you can get a reasonable interest rate, I would say buy it. Come in with some $ to bring down the loan amount a bit.
Just my 2 cents.
bwheeler0018 02-11-2007, 10:58 AM Thanks for your input. I would be trading in my 05 f150 that i own nothing on so they would be cutting me a check.

That's great, as long as you're happy with the trade amount....nothing better than having equity in another vehicle.
You should also get tax savings as well on the new vehicle if you buy it. If you lease it, that won't apply. Just another reason why in your case (assuming you do trade the Ford), you should buy it.

I am leasing my 06 GCSRT for $714/mo. for 36 mo. Not the best lease deal, but I like to lease because I still have the cash in the bank earning 5% interest.
2007GCSRT8 02-12-2007, 07:44 AM I just leased an 07 for 27 months. First month payment at closing, everything else (tax, title, license...) wrapped into the payment. $962 per month.
Edit: 18,000 miles per year.

Yikes......my oldman just leased an 07 XLR-V (MSRP $100k) for 27 months/12k miles annual for $1,086/month.
Total out of pocket was $4,500 (first pay., tax, bank fee).

Well sure, if I put $4500 down I'm sure my payment would drop considerably.
I should also add that I have 18,000 miles per year....
championjeep 02-12-2007, 10:30 AM If you want to know a lease payment let me know an I will run it for you.

Well, you put down 1st payment as well. So your out of pocket was $962.
So really the XLR out of pocket was $3,538 more than what you put down.
That's equivalent to about $125/month give or take.
What really sent your payment to the moon was your mileage.
Don't forget though that the XLR-V has an MSRP of over $50k more than a loaded SRT8.
Obviously you can't compare leases across two different model lines. But its just show that the SRT8 is not a leasing gem.
J Buda 02-12-2007, 04:23 PM Hello All,
I'm new to the post because I was trying to do some research on the GCSRT8. The truck looks great and I'm considering buying. Can you guys advise me of problems (bog or small) that have come up? Something that crossed my mind was that the possibility of rattles coming from the truck's interior after a while from the vibration?
Thanks
Joe
ronald mcglothlin 02-12-2007, 09:08 PM Well I for myself can say, I think it is the most fun I have ever had. Anything is a balance, do one think well something else not as well. This is the best at every thing I want as I can think of. Goes very fast wet or dry, handles like a sports car. Gets around very well in ice and snow, 10" plus deeper drifts. Nothing is perfect, but for me this is close.

I get money back at the end for un-used miles.
I know the SRT8 sucks to lease. I am a lease type guy, I like the car and don't mind the payment. I did a lot of shopping around before I got the car. I would hate to see someone else lease a car and have to pay more when they don't have to. That is why I posted up what my deal was. Hopefully it saves someone some money sometime.

How do you get $ back at the end for unused miles?
The only way to make $ on a lease is if your closed end buyout is less than what the car is actually worth.

This is how I understand it...when you lease a car you basically buy the extra miles upfront at a discount. If you do not use those miles, at the end of the lease you get so much back for each un-used mile. I have driven 15,000-18,000 miles for the past 10 years. So I doubt I'll be getting much back.

I have leased many a car in my day and handed many in below the mileage I was allowed under contract and never got a dime back.

Same here. I lease for 10,000 miles a year and end up only putting on about 3,000 miles a year and never got any money back.

Plain an simple, if you pay for it....use it!!! You will never get a dime back for what you dont use, even if you pay up front for extra miles. They will simply take your money an not care. Try not to pay for what you wont use, an of course dont ever go over on the miles!!! Thats when they get to rape you!!

I am never able to find a lease deal for less than 10,000 miles/year. Is there such a thing?
shodanusmc 02-14-2007, 01:08 PM I have never heard of getting moeny back on a lease if you are under the miles allowed. But they will get their money if you exceed them. Agree, Jeep is not a good lease.

The lowest mileage lease I can do in Illinois is 10,500 a year.
