: Removing glue on sunvisors?
DRE77 02-09-2007, 09:39 AM This morning I tries to remove those nasty looking warning labels on my sun visor. It left some glue stuck to the visor. I will wait to remove the others unless I can find a way to remove it safely without damaging the material. Any ideas anyone?
OurZoo 02-09-2007, 09:41 AM There's a company fabbing up billet inserts to put there. I don't have the link but I'm sure someone will chime in.
2007GCSRT8 02-09-2007, 09:48 AM Did you happen to take any pictures?
omegaman 02-09-2007, 09:55 AM I tried to remove one from a previous vehicle and it left a ghost image of the warning label and looked horrible once I was done. I'd love an easy solution to the label (without having them re-upholstered).
shodanusmc 02-09-2007, 11:41 AM Goo Gone, or order new visors and live with it.

JDR07 02-09-2007, 05:50 PM i was actually thinking about how ugly those things are today. is there no way to get rid of those and still have the visors looking ok?
AlexT 02-09-2007, 06:14 PM I removed mine from my M3 when I first bought it. Used a heat gun and got one off with no residue left, the other left an ugly residue shadow that I could never get rid of. Tried goofoff, and never got the 2nd one to look right. After that experience, I'm just leaving the stickers on the Jeep.

Sailorlite 02-09-2007, 07:25 PM Spray "brake parts cleaner" onto a white cloth and wipe. Test in an inconspicuous area first, as they say.
Street WK 02-09-2007, 07:33 PM ^^^ Ditto.
DRE77 02-14-2007, 08:28 AM Yesterday I tried Simonize stain remover, Simonize carpet cleaner, goo gone, Turtle Wax carpet cleaner and some very hot water to try and remove the residue. Not much luck. I advise anyone that wants to remove those nasty stickers on their visors to just leave them on. I even went to my local proffesional car wash and he said that there was nothing he could do about it. I'm going to see how much it would cost me to change it. If not, I'll just find a bigger sticker to cover the whole thing!
2007GCSRT8 02-14-2007, 08:42 AM Have you looked into how much new visors would cost? It sounds like you would probably be approaching that cost in your spending on goo gone. :p
gculver 02-14-2007, 08:55 AM It's a crap shoot, one visor came out pristine, the other, well, not so good(covered it with a 6.1L hemi sticker-its on the passenger side so it worked out well. I tryed every trick I could think of, laquer thinner, heat gun, goo gone, disolve it, amonia, acetone, brushing it, etc. Nothing seemed to work on the one visor.
Re-upholster. It'll cost you less than brand new visors, you'll have no stickers, and they'll be brand new. Problem solved. That is a SUPER easy upholstery job and any shop can do it in an hour or so.

I didn't think of that. I know a great shop nearby that had upholstered my vette seats a couple of years ago. Will look into it.
Check these out. They look like a good replacement for existing... cheaper than the recovering. But you still have cheezy, albeit wittier, stickers.

WJ_Jeep 03-28-2007, 11:09 AM Why not have the sun visors wrapped in leather???
mandan007 04-23-2008, 06:24 PM Since it's raining here, I decided to get rid of the sunvisor labels. Took an old 1800w hairdryer on high and heated one corner until my fingernail got it loose enough to start pulling. Just kept the heat on and peeled slowly off, being careful not to burn my hand! Took about 1/2 hour to get all 3 off. Pics of driver and pass. visor afterwards.

cbb77 04-24-2008, 04:43 PM Here's a project I did a while back. All that is needed is a computer, some thick tracing paper and can of Mopar paint that matches the interior. Blends in much better than yellow stickers. Flash makes it look like the color is off, but shade is actually much closer in person.

Razorecko 04-24-2008, 07:28 PM My right one is practically shot- the woman is always using it to tinker with makeup and now it has fingerprints all over it.
