Right now I have an 05 Ram QC with a few mods, but I fell in love with the GC before it came out. Havent seen any on the roads around here yet. I'm a member on the DTW website. Cant wait to get the srt8!!

Hemee I see you have a couple of old school rides. I'm going to look at a 70 Chevelle SS in a couple hours. I dont know too too much about the older hot rods, but I'm gonna check it out anyways. My brother in law wants to go halfs on a nice street rod, so we'll see what happens. I think the guy selling it wants 14k for it. Thats all the info I got so far. My brother in law doesnt know too much about cars. Thanks for the welcome, I never thought I'd want summer to be over before it started. I'm counting down the days till October!!

Welcome!

Post pictures and a detailed descriptions of the Chevelle and maybe we can help so you know what you're getting into. I'm a Mopar guy with a closet Chevelle fetish. One of my favorite cars that I never should have sold was a numbers matching Misty Turquoise '70 SS396 Chevelle with black SS stripes. Watch for rust! Look for body filler and poor patch jobs. Chevelles like to rust under the molding at the corners of the back window and all four quarter panels. The quarter panel drains often get plugged with mud and leaves and retain water inside. Also, look for round rally gauges in the dash. There are a lot of SS clones running around with rectangular gauge clusters. Not that clones are bad as long as they aren't misrepresented. Good luck!

I checked out the Chevelle yesterday. Not sure if its a real SS. It had a small block 350 in it which looked brand new. Very little to no rust. I was very surprised. Engine bay was very clean. The guy selling it had no idea about the tranny, rear end, or exhaust. It had a long rectangle for the mph cluster, with a big rice lookin tach, and three gauges under the radio. The guys best offer was 10k so far. He said the engine and tranny had only 500 miles on it. Could be BS. The thing sounded beautiful. I got alot of pics but I'm busy at work for the next two days. I'll try to upload them on Wed.

Welcome aboard! I'm very familiar with DTW/FTW/CTW etc. I was a webmaster for teh TEN site for a few years, but they offered nothing fr our SRT family, so I came over here. So far so good :)

It's not an SS. The gauge cluster is all wrong. What you described is from an everyday, average Chevelle. Also, SS Chevelles only had big blocks in the them in 1970, no 350s. Look closer at the car. If the seller is representing it as a real SS (you haven't said whether he is or not) there could be other things that are being misrepresented as well.

It has an ss steering wheel and badges. Thats it. I didnt think it was a real one with a 350. Oh well. Ill tell my brother in law to offer him 6k see what happens. I myself would love a nice 68-69 Camaro. But a little out of my price range right now. Plus the wife would cut my nu%$ off!! Thanks for the tips and for the warm welcome guys.

I think I would walk away. If he's asking 14k and you offer 6k, you're not going to get anywhere anyway, or at least it won't be a pleasant trip. ;) Here's a site for your brother to check out, prices here are often somewhat over-inflated, but will give a point of reference: http://www.hotrodhotline.com/classifieds/classifieds.php?a=5&b=162&page=1&c=

Thanks ge2. I've since put 24 inch rims on it and tinted the windows, speed grille, superchips, intake. I want to keep sinking mods into it, but I figure I'm getting rid of it in Oct. for the GC so, I'm gonna try my hardest to not spend any money!!

Looks like you chose the TIS? Nice looking wheels for sure. The TEN sites are infectious when it comes to modding and spending dough :)

And speaking of the speed grill, I've mentioned to Street Scene's president that there are a few folks who might be interested in a speed grill for the SRT GC. We'll see ;)

Mike Spagnola (their president) was very giving when it came to his sponsorship of my expedition. I keep dropping him hints ;)
