Just curious what anyone has done or is planning on doing to make their rubber last as long as possible?

About the only thing that you can do is to make sure that the inflation stays at the recemmended pressure. You can't rotate directional tires of different sizes.

You can switch sides though, correct? Would there be any benefit to doing so?

i don't think the tires are directional. don't directional tires have an arrow stamped in the sidewall? still, they can't be rotated because of the different size front to rear. i don't think switching sides will help much because the same edges will be worn on cornering & turning. like larry said, air pressure is about all you can do.

Thanks for the thread. I remember this as it wasn't that long ago. I just wanted to hear from more people and make it easier for someone in the future to find this information. It's just that I was at the dealer the other day and my advisor told me that we should probably pull the tires off of the rims and switch sides every 12K. I might as well do the Discount tire warranty as I did that twice on my last car. That and I'm guessing the dealer will probably try to charge 100 bucks every time we do this.

Just move front L to R,R to L / rear L to R,R to L every 4,000 miles or so, around every 8,000 to 10,000 remove from rims and swap directions. Certainly cheaper than premature tire wear.

I have directional tires on my Porsche. The first set (Continental)which only lasted 6,000 miles I did not switch sides. The second set also Continental I switched evry time I changed the oil at 3000. They also lasted 6000 miles. The third set (Pirelli) I've left alone completely. 10,000 miles so far. I've decided to leave the SRT tires alone and see what I get. I just have this feeling that messing with the sensors etc and changing tires is going to introduce possible problems - Of course I've been wrong often:D

The pressure sensors on the jeep do not have to mapped to location like GM products. So this should not be an issue. That being said, do it however you prefer. :D

I'm with Ink on this one. Even though we all have different driving patterns & road surface conditions, I think any major differences between rotating & not rotating will become evident with time. Let's see what happens. For the record, I'm in the "control" group that does squat :)

Well unfortunately I'm part of the "OCD" group and tend to overdo a few things. :D

My post was never meant to draw sides. Just info, I felt that could be usefull. Do it any way you want!

Has anyone had to swap a full set out due to wear yet?

What is the highest mileage truck we have here?
