: 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E63 AMG Sedan
WebDiligence 03-24-2009, 08:48 PM Think about picking this up for the wife. We are looking at the CLS550 or CLS55 AMG and think we prefer those since they look a bit larger.
Anyone have experience with these cars? We want a 2007 or above model year.

Purevl2 03-24-2009, 08:56 PM Awesome Performance. I was actually looking at an 05 E55 when before I bought the Jeep. My buddy had one. It took a few repairs after warranty and he sold it. He said there's a million sensors on it. He said the dash constantly lit up like a Christmas tree. Every trip to the dealer had a $500 minimum.
Donnie91 03-24-2009, 08:59 PM never experienced the drive but besides my all time m6 favorite id have to pick a cls55 amg..a few people in my neighborhood have them ,there classy and fast as a mf! the seats swivle (spelling ?) as you turn its so sick. Im sure you know its pricey but hey if you got the money go for it! ..goodluck with the search.
miclightning 03-24-2009, 09:11 PM honestly id go with the E55 over the E63
blown v8 over the NA v8
if you DO decide to mod, it will be much easier to produce power from a pre-supercharged motor from the factory.
E55's run 11.7's stock :D

Mike_Levy 03-24-2009, 09:23 PM Does your wife honestly need a 500hp sedan? Why?
Pick up an E500 or 550.

Pick up an E500 or 550.
Certainly not just asking if it was a good car we are leaning towards the E55. But just b/c she is a woman does not mean she does not like fast cars. :p
Untouchable 03-24-2009, 09:45 PM pick up an 05/06 e55 that is still under warranty and then get the extended warranty.
Late model AMGs are some of the best dollar for dollar values around. They drop like a rock for some reason, which is great when they fall into your price range.
My brother has an 05 e55 he picked up in 07 with 16k miles for 43000. It was a 90000 car new.
He got a pulley and tune and runs 11.6 at 120 all day long. Spanks most anything on the street.
BOYCHIKS 03-24-2009, 09:48 PM Well those are some tuff choices. I got to drive a CLS63 for a day, and WOW, speechless. That thing was a beast!
I don't really think you can go wrong with yours or her choice.. Take them for a test drive and i'm sure you'll pick on.
Muellge 03-24-2009, 09:49 PM Does your wife honestly need a 500hp sedan? Why?
Pick up an E500 or 550.
I believe wives have every right and reason to drive a 500 hp sedan. It give the husband something else to mod when he gets bored with his daily driver.:D
Untouchable nailed it, pick up a low mileage 06 and get an extended warranty on it, get a pulley and some flashes and you'll be running mid 11s smooth as silk. Brakes are like throwing out an anchor.
Razorecko 03-24-2009, 10:15 PM ....only problem i see is because the prices are so darn good on them in the last week i saw 3 e55's being driving by KIDS that had to be under 21yrs old.
I had an E55 and it was a great car, but as was stated earlier.....get one under warranty and get the extended warranty. There is nothing cheap, the oil changes are 100 bucks at least. I made that mistake once, changed it myself after that. The E55 also has a massager built into the seat, nice feature on long trips.

I think this is a great reason to buy a supercar for your wife.
Our 5.7 ltr WK was my wifes and I enjoyed driving it instead of my vehicle on many occassions.
I still think my wife will want to have the SRT8 as her DD. I might look at an E55 in a few months.
WebDiligence 03-25-2009, 11:17 AM Thanks guys exactly what I wanted to know. Looks like we will start shopping for an E55 and get that extended warranty.

Harrison@Stage6 03-25-2009, 05:28 PM My wife LOVED drving my GCSRT8. I think she had more kills in it than I do. So won't drive it anymore since I put on headers and no resonators. DAMN!!:D;)
WebDiligence 03-25-2009, 06:30 PM OK, now I confused myself! The wife likes the CLS550 look more than the E class. Most everyone here keeps mentioning the E500 or E550, is that one better than the CLS?
ViperSteve 03-25-2009, 10:36 PM I have a 2007 E63... let me tell you... UNREAL!! I mean... 517 hp na It has 12 more hp that my Viper did before i did some things of course!! I couldn't have my mercedes beating the Viper!! hahaha
The thing is that the value drops like a rock for the first year or two then levels out pretty good. I picked up mine for an incredible price, pre-owned, and have 100k warranty till Feb 2012. It is white, glass roof, fully loaded...
I have friends that have e55 but make sure the tranny is checked. They went to the f1 like 7 spd tranny in 2007. personally... I would be all over the 2007+ before the e55...
Mike_Levy 03-25-2009, 10:40 PM The CLS and E are based on the same chassis. Same car, minus the body and price. The E has a larger interior due to the CLS's sloping roof. The CLS was always more expensive and more "fashionable".
****, if it was me, I'd be looking at an S65 and screw the V8s altogether. 604hp TT V12 FTW. :D

ya... but the S series are just too damn big!!
Mike_Levy 03-25-2009, 10:58 PM See, I'm used to big cars. I came from a 300C SRT8 and 2 F-Bodys, all of which are merely 7-9 inches shorter then an S-class.
ViperSteve 03-25-2009, 11:03 PM hahaha... ya... well they are also 200k new
WebDiligence 03-25-2009, 11:44 PM hahaha... ya... well they are also 200k new
I accept donations! :D
jaras1976 03-25-2009, 11:59 PM I can't say much for the Mercedes SUV's but I did have a 05 C230 v6 with a turbo and I loved it. I only got rid of it at a time I didn't have ajob and needed to lower my bills. Wasn't real fast but looked good and was quick. I must say the ride of a Mercedes was great and even at high speeds I felt very safe. I hope your wife loves her new car no matter what she gets.
ViperSteve 03-26-2009, 09:55 AM Ya... My buddies wife drove mine home the other night when the rest of us were to drunk to drive. She wouldn't stop talking about how nice the ride was, the power, etc. My buddy gave me the dirty look of "thanks ass... Now she wants one!!". Hahahaha
ajharman 03-26-2009, 10:52 AM My uncle had a e55 AMG. FAST
