: SRT8 plant shut down again?

Okay so I ordered my Jeep on November 15th, 2006. Went in yesterday to inquire about the Jeep's status and the sales manager tells me that the production plant has stopped production and will not re-open till March and my trucks production has not even started. Sooooooooo the dealer is now trying to obtain one from another dealer in Ontario.
I'm starting to think that I was just not meant to own one of these Jeeps and worst part is................I can get a brand new black 2007 GMC Denali for the same monthly payment (friends with the owner of the dealership). Not nearly as fast as the SRT8 but still beautiful and no slouch with the 6.2L V8 and 380hp..............may sound silly to ask here but what do you all think I should do, I love both vehicle's????????? :)

they are completely different... get whichever truck suites your needs...

Denali is far more plush. May not be as fast, but a much more comfortable ride, with more room. Just depends on if you want smaller, faster, and sportier, or bigger and softer.

I want to shed a few tears.... You are able and willing to get one and your are starting to change your mind....I am not able(now) to get one yet I have them all around me. This sucks!!!

If I were you, for one, I would be really happy, but also I would hold out for the SRT8....For lots of reasons.
1. the Fun factor.
2. The HA HA, Im the only one around here that has one factor.
3. The "WOW this is way cooler than a GMC" factor
4. Because theres a guy sitting at home, temporarily unemployed, hoping that the job of his dreams will call soon so he can go out and get his GCSRT "FINALLY"-----Factor

Please hold out.

Go on a test drive with a used one....that will make you wanna wait!!!!

My friend I regret to inform you that you have been given false information. It is not the plant it is the dealership having the problem. I put an order in two days ago an it was picked up right away. If you have left a deposit with that dealer I would suggest getting your money back.

Have them get one on a train out of Toronto and call it a day. The dealer should take the hit on the shipping and absorb it into the margin they are making because you are getting the run-around.

It has happened to other people looking for these that are promissed the truck by a dealer that has no allocation and then left to wait. Unfair to you.

Even better, call my dealer, Ontario Chrysler and ask for Dave Pozzobon I mentioned to you earlier and buy it from him. He will look after you and likely the shipping. Very down to earth guy and his promisses are real. 905-625-8801.

Good luck and hang in there.

I'm from Toronto, well Brampton, and my husband ordered his SRT8 fully loaded from the dealership October 23, 2006, we actually are getting the srt8 that the dealership manager ordered.. so technically it was ordered before October... WE STILL DONT HAVE IT...... it's been 4 months.. how much longer should we expect to wait???

The problem is just what was stated earlier, they do not have the allocation for them. So your guess is as good as thiers as to how long you will be waiting. An I would love to be able to help you guys out since I have one of the largest allocations in the country, but new vehicles sold in the U.S. have to be titled in the U.S. Otherwise we get in a lot of trouble from Chrysler. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, an if you need any info let me know!

For all you who have had to wait 3 or 4 months or (gasp) longer after ordering AND financed, how does that work? Do you have to get financing before you order, or when it arrives?

Financing is not done until the vehicle arrives an you take delivery of it.

I had to pay in full up front before they would order. After 3 months I found one being delivered to a different dealer and bought it. The 1st dealer did refund my money with no problem.

I would search for a dealer that has what you want in stock. There are some out there, such as a nice Black one at Stateline Jeep where I did get mine from. It seems like it does make a difference what dealer you go to. Someone told me that if they don't have a Viper mechanic on staff then the chances are also reduced of the dealer ever getting one. ???? Maybe Resumespeed could shed some light on that.

Never heard of paying in full before getting an order in. Why pay for a vehicle before it is even built. I put $500 down and then paid the rest at delivery.

Hey, your from halifax right? they have one on PEI at kings county chrysler, also halifax chrystler dodge has one on order should be here in 4 weeks. found this info out wheni was looking for mine. and good luck trying to find one in ontario or quebec that will give one up no one will part with these things for a dealer trade for some reason, i had to get one taken in from out west and the valley dealer had to give up some pretty good vehicles to get it in, rubicon and a few others for the one srt8. i would call kings county chrysler on the island to begin with. hope thats a little help for my fellow nova scotian.

Champ! You are one of the coolest things to happen to the forum in some time. I will be buying my GCSRT8 from you as soon as the 2008 becomes availible. Shoot me the info as soon as you get it on the 08'. Then we can work out the details.

I agree Championjeep has been super helpful, not just on the board, but also over the phone. Hopefully he'll sell a car or two and hang around. :p

Wow! Thanks all for the quick responses. I now have some more info since the time I started the thread. My salesman phoned me and told me that the dealers manager phoned over 20 dealers around the country and finally found one at a dealership in Sacborough Ontario that owes my dealer a favor and are willing to part with a 2007 Black fully loaded SRT8 with 0kms that's still in shipping plastic. They can have it here within 48hrs.............I guess my only problem now is that the Denali is out in my driveway! The other dealership gave it to me for the night and I have to say it may not be crazy fast but still a very impressive, beautiful vehicle. I guess I will have to rack my brain and decide, the Jeep dealership that I've been dealing with thus far has not even come close to the customer service that GM has shown. I will keep you all posted and thanks again for the quick responses.

I hate decisions!!!!!

These two vehicles are so different that it shouldn't be that tough a decision. :dunno:

Also, if you were buying an Overland Jeep from your local Chrysler dealer they would have given you one as well. Different can of worms with the SRT8's. Everyone wants to sell them to customers, but truth is they just can't get them.

My guess is you are getting the Jeep from Scarborotown Chrysler. We service a lot of our fleet vehicles there and they are a big enough dealer to get allocation. Congrats and good luck on the decision.

All they seem to have around here is black, with one silver. I want red. But if I don't have to finance until I get it, that makes things a lot easier.

To order one should simply cost you a $500 refundable deposit.

I'm in Ottawa, Ontario. Only 4 showing up in the area, 3 blacks, 1 silver. Another dealer had one that they must have sold, which was also black I believe.

Gotcha! Yeah there are definitely harder to get there! Good luck to you.

Little advice, Order it through a dealer up there that has at least one in stock!!!!!!

Redshift

Now if they have one in stock, doesn't that mean they have one less in available allocation? I had a particular dealer in mind, they have the biggest lot in the area by at least a factor of 2. They're the dealer that already sold one.

The other reason I want to order is because I don't want the entertainment package, and ALL the ones around here are fully loaded.

If there have some in stock then you know they have an allocation for them!! An since you are ordering the chances of the ones in stock still being there are slim to none. Chrysler works on a turn an earn program, the more you sell the more you get. Thats why I suggest a dealer that has something available right now as the one to order from!! And again, good luck and congratulations!!!
