Minus 5 in Detroit. Do you think it has the potential to cause any permanent harm? Logically, probably not...but I for one get an apprehensive feeling starting up in this stuff.

yea definitley, too bad the ground is so frozen when i tried to measure a 0-60 with the gtech i managed to get sideways after 2 feet. Theres no way there is any harm done to the car as long as its properly heated up - its the heat that is the real killer.

Yeah, I'm wondering how she's gonna act in 100 degree weather in July-September.

thats what worries me - especially chicago weather, we have over a 100 easy on more than a few days with the humidity.

Below 0 here with the wind chill factor this week in Westchester County, NY. I agree, it SCREAMS in this cold, dense air. Also, I had mine throughout the opposite effect (100 degree, WITH equal humidity last July) and although not terribly different our beasts are definitly cold blooded animals!

Oh, by the way, my 5am startup's in these frigid temps (non-garaged) see's that my tires will drop a few PSI's and get the warning light going upon startup. After about 15 miles on the highway, all goes back to normal.

Agree. The cold spell here in NJ (single digits) has been great for driving. The difference seems to be it's responsive at all times. There are no ups and downs in response like I have seen in the summer.

Thats weak!! Last week here in Denver area we set a new record -18 and that did not include wind chill. I wanted so bad to go see how low the car went but it was way too cold to go anywhere.

Can the cold affect the start up? I had liberty before this and when it was in the teens or lower it had a much different sound when starting up. It wasn't a good sound. Kind of like a squeeling grinding terrible resonance.

You guys need to move to Canada. Toronto, not so bad, but try Winnipeg Manitoba.

And I found a block heater cord under the hood on the passenger side when I was installing my CAI. Wasn't sure I had one, but now that I do....Bring on the cold.

A catch 22...the engine is willing, but the cold tires on snow and ice can't deliver.

On extreme cold startup , when the oil is that cold, just don't rev it up but let it idle to a warmer temp. Good it has 0-40 synthetic too. Been in Chicago in -20, was on the only plane that they let land that evening too. It was so cold, the taxi cab's anti freeze anti ice spray on the windshield froze over everytime he tried it except for that little spot near the defroster vent.

Hi...this is interesting, I've seen this happen on mine (not even freezing, but cold) - I run about 32-33 psi, and when they've dropped below 30 I get the warning light and message - but it never turns off! Even after the sensor reads above 30, it still blinks and keeps switching to the warning message, until I get more air! It may have reset after sitting off for a while, but I don't think so - that was several months ago (it's been garaged for the winter - and I miss it terribly!)

If I remember correctly, once the warning is activated, the air must be filled to > 34 psi to deactivate the warning.

It has been said that you need to take them over 34 or 35 lbs to reset the sensors.

Okay...though I'm about 90 percent sure that I had warmed the tires enough in driving to get it back to reading 35, and it was still blinking/warning...until I put actual air in. Can't say that for 100 percent sure, though!

I'll keep an eye on this if it happens again after I get it back on the road after winter - actually, those of you who have yours out now should be seeing this? Anyone see the warning/light and have it go out after driving for a while?

That would be cool. I have a private rental at Summit Motorsports Park (formerly Norwalk Raceway Park) in Norwalk, OH in May. It's 4 hours of the track to ourselves between 15 people. I have a couple spots open, if you are interested let me know and I'll e-mail you all the info.

I was driving it in Woodland/West Hills last summer when it was 115 easy....worked like a charm.

I am picking up my 07 GCSRT tomorrow. When I started it yesterday at the dealer, the truck was cold, as well as the outside temp (18 or so), it had an erratic rev. for 30 sec to a minute. The dealer said it was cold and it had to walm up. Has anyone had this same condition and is it normal?

Hey JNK - welcome to the fun!

As an older driver I'm always looking around for a choke and pumping the throttle for gas. I've noticed that when I forget I'm now in the 21st century and pump the gas the start is eratic. Just let the automatic choke do the work!
Its been very cold here too
In fact its been so cold the politicians have had their hands in their own pockets:D

Thanks Ink Pump. I actually used the remote start and this happened. I assumed it was the choke, but wanted to confirm with the experts on the forum.
Love this site, great source of info! Can't wait to drive my new baby.

I remember some stories about dealers putting the wrong gas in these SRTs because they don't realize its prefers 93. That might be causing you problems

I am friendly with the dealer and they already assured me that 93 was being put in for my delivery tomorrow. Have to take their word for it.

Hey JNK! Where in New Jersey are you? What dealer did you buy yours from? I purchased mine from Martin Dealerships in South Jersey. I'm looking to putting together a NJ meet, since there is a high number of us Joisey guys on here. :D

I live in Marlboro. Bought it from Buhler on 35 in Hazlet. I do organized car shows during the summer. My friend has a wheel and accessory place in Staten Island. We are putting together 3 shows this year. Raritan Center, Sand Bar in Hoboken, and I think (not yet confirmed) Staten Island Yankee Stadium celeb softball charity show. I will post the dates and times a soon as they are confirmed. We also hang out at the Freehold car show in the summer. Our crew has a huge selection of rides. From Lambo's to Bently's to Honda's. So far I will have the first GC SRT8. Wheels are on order as well as lots of upgrades.

JNK328 - I noticed this when I first picked up my truck. Haven't really seen it lately - 3,000 miles on it now. Happened after using remote start and showing a friend the truck and I didn't like that it was fluctuating for a bout 20-30 seconds, but the friend didn't notice and no harm done.

Consider this normal and drive on...

The Sand Bar is in Jersey City, not Hoboken.

Keep me posted on the NJ meets.

It's cold when ice forms on the door hinges & down the front door opening. When I open th door it crunches & the ice is forming inbetween the rocker molding & the bottom of the door. Has this happen to anyone else?
