: Ow, Ow, Ow, Ow, Ouch!!
Mike_Levy 03-18-2009, 08:52 PM My Jeep got hit this afternoon. Stupid me was trying to be courtious and get out of the way to make space for another car to get in, and a freaking box truck nailed me. Gotta go see the adjuster tomorrow morning.
Know what really sucks? I have an appt with AJ Saturday for my dyno tune. If I can get my hands on a mirror, I'm going. :p

QBNKID 03-18-2009, 08:56 PM Ouch! Damn bro, sorry to hear that. But at least it sounds like your ok.
That's only sheet metal, insurance should get it fixed soon for you.
Good luck.
rwboring 03-18-2009, 08:57 PM oh man... no good... no good at all...
Grip Grip 03-18-2009, 08:57 PM That sucks! Hell, at least you weren't hurt. :)
BlackJeepSRT 03-18-2009, 09:01 PM OMG! That sucks. You have some bad luck. :( Good luck getting it fixed.
JJJ93z 03-18-2009, 09:05 PM damn , glad the curtain airbags didn't deploy. What kind of fender vents are those? They don't look half bad.
Chris Hull@TTC 03-18-2009, 09:05 PM Sorry for you Mike, hope its fixed soon!
Damn, ALMOST got the vents ;)
BOYCHIKS 03-18-2009, 09:26 PM Damn, that sucks to see.. Could've been worse..
Mike, I posted your VIN check in the other thread to..
hoseclamp 03-18-2009, 09:34 PM Craaaaaaap!!! Hope the shop staff live on coffe and cocaine so you'll get the beast back on the road asap!!! Look for shops with Columbian employees!!!
mandan007 03-18-2009, 09:45 PM That hurts to see your ride like that!:( At least it's fixable and no personal injuries! :)
Harrison@Stage6 03-18-2009, 09:49 PM That's painful to see. Esp. when you do drive a black! Sorry bro, that so sucks. I know what it's like to miss your Jeep for a month. I hope you have great success with getting it fixed and it comes out better tan new. How fast was the truck going? Hope no one was hurt for sure.:D I imagine not though, just your inner Jeep. Wish you the best.:rocker:
Tcnj80 03-18-2009, 09:57 PM Glad your alright man, the body shop will have her looking good as new before you know it.
Mike_Levy 03-18-2009, 10:09 PM Nobody was really "hurt". My neck is a bit stiff, and the trucks driver was complaining about his knee, but thats about it. My neck is always kinda stiff, and there was no intrusion, so he must've hit his knee on the dash.
No idea how fast the truck was going. It was a red light, so I'd hope not too fast.
Fault is hard to assign in this case. It may have been my fault for being courteous and moving to let another car in, or or may have been his fault for not seeing me moving.
The Vents are from AutoVentshade. I got them a while ago. Think they're like $15 at Summit.
The thing that really bothers me, is how much the paint peeled. Its almost like Jeep forgot to put Primer on. Anyplace the metal creased, the paint cracked and started peeling.
Anybody got a passengers side mirror available? I need to be able to make the 50 mile drive on Saturday. Took way too long to get an appointment with AJ to let this stop me.
BlackJeepSRT 03-18-2009, 10:16 PM Can't you just rig a temporary fix if you can't get a PS mirror?
Mike_Levy 03-18-2009, 10:24 PM Can't you just rig a temporary fix if you can't get a PS mirror?
Theres nothing there. As soon as I moved the truck the remnants of the mirror fell off. All thats where the mirror should be is some electrical connectors. If there was something to attach the glass to I'd buy a universal on and stick it on, but alas, there isn't.
BlackJeepSRT 03-18-2009, 10:25 PM That sucks. There is car-part.com and ebay. But I don't think either would arrive by Saturday.
DevssrT 03-18-2009, 10:33 PM Damn buddy that sux dude!...Sorry to see!...Hope it gets fixed quickly!
SoonToBeSRT 03-18-2009, 10:47 PM Sorry to see this Mike, youll be back in action in no time, glad your ok, cars and all are replaceable, even the SRT8 :( haha but in all reality it shouldn't be much more than 3 weeks or so right and back to new, GL w/ fix
P.S. - you can finally justify that insurance payment each month haha, make em do something for all that free money ;)
Mike_Levy 03-18-2009, 10:53 PM P.S. - you can finally justify that insurance payment each month haha, make em do something for all that free money ;)
One little problem with that. They've already laid out over $100,000 to me over the past 3 years. We've been having flooding issues in July, and they've totalled 3 cars and fixed 2 others. I just have very bad luck with vehicles lately.:(
Crookster777 03-18-2009, 10:58 PM Oh my goodness. Sorry to see this Mike. At least no one was hurt.
hops23 03-19-2009, 05:48 AM Damn, I guess the title says it all. Good luck on getting it back to good.
Vinnysrt8 03-19-2009, 06:10 AM That sucks look almost like mine when it was hit but the back had the most damage..
squigmang 03-19-2009, 07:37 AM SHEEET that sucks man, sorry to see it.
I like the gunmetal wheels though :P
tdutton40 03-19-2009, 07:45 AM do you really need side mirrors, im sure any cop would let it go if they saw you driving, think they would be more worried about the door itself, anyways just inform them your on your way to the shop.
panajeep 03-19-2009, 08:10 AM sorry men eso duele
SRT8 4 J 03-19-2009, 08:42 AM OUCH!!!! that is some carnage right there...glad you are OK-next time throw courtesy out the window!!!
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 03-19-2009, 09:25 AM dayum man...that looks like it hurts.
shorestyle031 03-19-2009, 11:37 AM i could cry
Mike_Levy 03-19-2009, 08:24 PM Got the initial estimate done today. Just $3500 to fix the exterior stuff. As it gets disassembled the body shop will call GEICO with additions, which I'm sure there will be plenty of.
Mike_Levy 03-23-2009, 09:24 PM Updates: Lots of new parts. Front right fender (they cut out the old fender to save the vent :)), both right doors, new vent visors, new antenna (which sucks, 'cause I had a shorty), new sideskirt, new fender liner. Rear quarter is being fixed. I requested lead filler, because I'm firmly against using Bondo, but they don't think insurance is gonna cover that (I also doubt they have anybody with the skills to do it).
Unfortunetly the frame was bent, so its gotta be pulled out. I'm having them put some bracing in beside the pull, because I'm not willing to give up any rigidity in a chassis thats already pretty flexy.
We're currently upto a little over $5,000 in work.
Until its fixed I'm driving my work car. 94 Plymouth Sundance sedan, with a whopping 93hp 2.2L I4 and 3 speed automatic, because insurance only pays $30 a day for a rental, which is less then anything costs.
BOYCHIKS 03-23-2009, 09:27 PM Well that stinks :(
Atleast it is getting fixed and just be glad nobody got hurt!
Crookster777 03-23-2009, 09:32 PM Mike you have Geico right? My WJ got plowed into by a a driver who passed out behind the wheel and I needed some body work. I took it to their recommended shop on 57th Street between 10th and 11th Ave in NYC. They did a PERFECT job. Matched to the tee and you could not tell that the bumper and rear quarter panel was touched.

Mike_Levy 03-23-2009, 09:36 PM Yep, I have GEICO. Truck is at Federal Auto Body in Flushing. I've been using them for years, for all sorts of stuff. They're a GEICO Drive In Claims center.
promo718 03-23-2009, 10:09 PM that sucks about the frame, man - hopefully they can bend it back within spec.
Vinnysrt8 03-24-2009, 05:40 AM Wow ur frame bent i would see if they could total it out when mine got hit is was 8000 in damage but the frame was not bent so they couldnt total it out for me
Toothmonger 03-24-2009, 05:51 AM Ouch frame damage :( Don't they normally total the vechicle when that happens?
silverbullet 03-24-2009, 09:13 AM Crap sorry to see this happen to you. Hope it gets fix quickly and to your satisfaction
silverbullet 03-24-2009, 09:16 AM Mike, IF you can afford to, I would simply fix this up so that it's okay and then sell it and get a new one. Frame damage seals the fate on this if it was me.
1BAMFR 03-24-2009, 09:24 AM I would get that thing painted pearl White after the body work is done....powdercoat the wheels gloss black
That would be sickkkkkkkk
Mike_Levy 03-24-2009, 09:34 AM They won't total it because the repair is only $5000, and the book value on the truck is $33,xxx. The repair needs to be 70% of the value or more.
I would have considered replacing it with another, but with the motor work done, and the labor to transfer it all over, not to netion being upside down on the loan, I'm not sure if its worth it.
BILLSHOE 03-24-2009, 09:44 AM Wow that really stinks but the damage is in the middle which is better than on the wheels where it will effect you the most. Good luck
Vinnysrt8 04-27-2009, 05:24 AM Hey mike hows the jeep is it all finsihed u have any pictures

Crookster777 04-27-2009, 01:48 PM The Jeep is looking great Mike! Did they detail the whole Jeep before they gave it back?
Mike_Levy 04-27-2009, 02:00 PM Nah, they didn't detail her. They did wash and vacuum her though, which she needed. I need to find time in the next couple weeks to give her a good claying and cleaning. They left some tape residue on the roof that needs to come off.
SRT-MANA 04-27-2009, 02:01 PM Geeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzz! A Week Ago I Dinged My Jeep:) This Is Making Me Feel Sick! Hate To See F'd Up Jeep Srt's..........at Least Your Spirit Is High:)
