Does anyone have an aftermarket remote start/alarm? I am interested in one that has the remote that has the lcd display and can control multiple car functions.
I am getting my 06 GCSRT8 Thursday. I did a search, but couldn't find anything.
Any thoughts on what is best?
Thanks,
Jerry

I've got the Viper 791XV which a lot of people consider to be the "top of the line" although there are other systems which are comparable. The install was a bit tricky, make sure you have a professional shop do it.

I have the 791XV on my Envoy XUV. Awesome alarm and lots of programmable features. Pay a reputable shop to install or there could be consequences down the line.

Thanks for the replies.
On some of these there are aux outputs (defroster on the Clifford) can these be used for the heated seats as well? What about other hvac functions?
Thank,
Jerry

I don't have any idea. I would love to have my seats warmed when I get in and a heated steering wheel too. It has been really cold here.

Another question on install; would anybody trust Best Buy for the install? I can get the Viper 791x for $500 install included (although they say there may be extra charges due to having to get a new key made), but just curious who I should have install it.
Thanks,
Jerry

generally speaking no I wouldn't recommend Best Buy but if there's no other choice then you can go there and talk to the installer... if and only if he is MECP certified AND he has done a remote starter in a 2005+ Chrysler vehicle then maybe you might be OK, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I had circuit city install a remote starter on my wife's gc a few years ago and never had a problem. I had to buy some sort of module because of the chipped key so it ended up costing about $120 more than a non-chipped key equipped car. I would have no qualms about going back there. Besides, they have a lifetime warranty on their installs (I think) and they aren't going to go out of business anytime soon like so many small audio shops seem to. Paying more doesn't necessarily mean you're getting a better install. I would bet best buy and circuit city install a LOT more remote starters and alarms than any specialty shop. A lot more.

I don't know if I would quite say they wouldn't be going out of business anytime soon. The Good Guys seemed to have disappeared in a cloud of dust over here on the left coast. I bought a lot of my electronics throught them :(
