: Service tire pressure....
2007GCSRT8 02-05-2007, 11:34 AM 400 miles on the car and a "service tire pressure" warning came on. Has this happened to anyone else? Do I need to go to the dealer? Would that be covered under warranty, or is that $$$ out of my pocket? Thanks for the help.
HoustonSRT-8 02-05-2007, 11:41 AM That means the pressure in your tires are low.
However, I see you live in Minnesota, so cold weather can be playing a factor. The temperature of the air can change the air pressure in your tires. We had an arctic front come through recently and I got the same warning. It said my air pressures were 28 & 29psi all around. However, when the weather warmed back up, they were 32 & 33 all around with no air added. I would just check the pressure in your tires when they are cold (in other words, after it has been parked for a few hours) to make sure they are to factory specs, which I think is 36?
red_rides 02-05-2007, 11:46 AM "service tire pressure" isn't the warning light that I get when the actual pressure is too low. Mine will say something like "right rear low pressure". So... I'm guessing you need to go to the dealer to see what's wrong with the system, not the actual pressure.
What's the on-board computer saying for the four tire pressure readings?

I wouldn't worry about it if the warning has cleared. I got my first warning a few nights ago while driving from the track. I toggled to the tire pressure display and all tires looked fine and the warning has not appeared again. Prob just lost the signal to one of the pressure sensors in the wheel for a moment. An actual flat tire indication is when the orange flat tire symbol illumintes in the cluster.
HoustonSRT-8 02-05-2007, 11:54 AM What's the on-board computer saying for the four tire pressure readings?
I'm fairly certain that's the warning I got when it thought all 4 tires were low.
Besides, the first thing you should do when you get that message is check your tire pressure. If they are fine, then I would think about calling the dealer for service. The dealer should not be your first thought on something that simple.
kramsay1234 02-05-2007, 12:26 PM Mine has come up a few times and I am in Toronto where the weather temp has been dropping. I have 38 lbs in each tire though, so I am guessing the message is to tell you one tire is a couple lbs of air different than the others. If you press the button to toggle through the displays it goes away and doesn't come back, so not a constant warning as much as an indicator. pressures move 3-4 lbs in cold weather.

esq76 02-05-2007, 12:29 PM The Same Thing Happened To Me About A Week Ago....serivice Tire Pressure Monitor System...this Is Not The Same Thing As Having A Low Pressure In A Tire. Anyway, I Brought It In For Service And The Dealer Told Me There Is Tech Serivce Bulletin....and It Would Be Fixed. The Tsb States That There Is A Realproblem If The Tire Pressure Montior Does Not State The Pressures In The Tires But Rather Has Dashes. Mine Does Not Have Dashes But Is Still Reading The Tire Pressures...long Story Short It Still Is Not Fixed
AlexT 02-05-2007, 12:30 PM I'm getting the same error message regularly, with all 4 tires measuring about the same and in the proper range (35 cold, 37/8 hot). I've also verified this with a good mechanical gauge.
I'll probably have it looked at when it's in the dealership for something else.

Last Wednesday I brought the car in to the dealer. Well, they told me that the Left Front Sensor was bad. Come back tomorrow when the part will be in. On Thursday afternoon I go back in. After 2 hours, dealer says no, thats not the problem. Its the Control unit for the EVIC System. Come back Friday afternoon when the part is in. Ok, go back on Friday. After 2 hours they say they orders the wrong part. Mine has the remote start, and the part they ordered was for the non remote start. Ok....take this loaner car and let us keep it until Monday. Called an hour ago, they now have the correct part, and it does not work. THey have a call into STAR....
What did I learn....DO NOT TAKE the vehicle into the dealer. .............What is this TSB?????????????

TSB = Technical Servbice Bulletin...visit www.wkjeeps.com. Very informative and it illustrates all the TSBs chrysler issues to dealers regarding problems with vehicles etc. and how they should be repaired. Specifcally the TSB for the tire monitor states in essence that there is a fuse missing which is causing the error message. the tsb further states that "most customers will state that there are dashes where the numbers should be for tire pressure" on my car, I have accurate readings for tire pressure, only once in a while will the "service tire pressure monitor" light come on. As far as I am concerned it is not a major problem that requires immediate attention. My suggestion is wait for a new TSB to be issued

I am hoping that they can fix it. I told them to put the original module back on. THey said can't do it as it was already shipped back to Jeep. One good deal after another!

Thanks. I know what TSB stands for, just wondering where the TSB was located, and I found it. I also agree, I just should have left the damn thing alone.
kramsay1234 02-05-2007, 05:15 PM Someone has to do the investigating on our behalf.
I like others just flip to compass and back and its gone. Only happened a few times in 3000 km.

CHEVROLET CLASSIC SPECIFICATIONS (http://www.chevy-wiki.com/wiki/Chevrolet_Classic)
JTSRT 02-06-2007, 06:53 PM I am in the process of working on the same thing with the dealer in town. There is a write up about this problem on the chrysler website that the techs can get to. my service tire pressure system light comes on, the yellow light in the left top comes on and the same passenger side rear tire keeps showing dashes (BUT not all the time that it says to service the system). Apparently there is an IOD fuse or something that the dealer must put in when the vehicle arrives to the lot. IF the car is driven for more than 10 consecutive minutes prior to the fuse being placed then this problem occurs. The website didn't say anything about how to fix it so they have a call into chrysler and I am waiting to hear how to fix it; I'll keep you guys posted when I find out.
kramsay1234 02-06-2007, 07:05 PM To be clear, no lights come on my dash, its just the message in the in dash computer display that as soon as I hit the compass and go back it is gone. And I have never seen dashes on my tire readings.

timster 02-06-2007, 08:09 PM I have this problem too. I have been ignoring it. It all seems to have started with the cold weather. when the temps are higher than about 30 or so I do not get the service warning.
shodanusmc 02-07-2007, 02:00 PM Its now fixed, and has not come on in 0 degree weather. A control unit was replaced. It took a while, bacause the software levels were not compatable. THey back out a few modules, and it works. Guess we have hot weather trucks!
Goldengreek5 02-07-2007, 02:13 PM My jeep is at the dealer for this right now. They say they dont know what the problem is and will need to keep it a few days.
Based on my conversation with my dealer, this is an issue on all Jeeps with the TPMS. Hopefully Jeep releases a fix soon, as I am getting tired of checking tires for no good reason.
I am also receiving the traction control needs servicing and every once in a while it appears that it has been turned off, and then the light goes away. Too many Gremlins!!!
