: aftermarket doubledin Nav units?
jaybruce 02-05-2007, 12:53 AM I have a US spec nav and it looks like I will need to purchase the euro spec to get nav working. The Euro doesn't have Sat radio or bluetooth though. And it's gonna cost about 2g. So, any aftermarket nav suggestions? looking for bluetooth, touch, input for rear cam, etc...
Se7en 02-05-2007, 07:48 PM The two best units I've seen are the Pioneer and the Eclipse. This said, I do not know if they will have all of the features that you're looking for.

I am planning on putting the Alpine W200 unit in when I get the SRT8. Best double din unit out IMO.
SI_G35Coupe 02-05-2007, 09:26 PM the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 has hard drive based navigation, optional bluetooth module, optional voice control module, touch screen, DVD, backup cam... the works
But its still a Pioneer ;)

There is nothing wrong with high end pioneer IMHO. Good processors, good signal, decent dacs, good interface. The AVIC is a nice piece of kit. For me, I would probably choose over an Alpine.
If sound quality is important to you I would still look at the Eclipse. One of the best DACS available.
jaybruce 02-06-2007, 02:21 AM thanks, looks like the avic has everything I need. I just need to find the wiring diags for it and the stock rear cam and see if they mesh.

idealrides 02-06-2007, 09:24 AM I did a bunch of research trying to find the best double din for the Jeep. I ultimately decided to stay with the factory radio for a number of reasons, two of which are:
- you will lose the integrated steering wheel controls unless you buy a special adaptor harness which is somewhat difficult to install and not guaranteed to work.
- a few people with REC radios have reported that they got a check engine light as soon as the factory radio was removed, and it can't be cleared.

the first part could be fixed with harness or custom re-wire, the second though---that would really suck!! I have to buy a new one anyway so thats why Im looking at alternatives because the REJ model doesn't have bluetooth.
SI_G35Coupe 02-06-2007, 07:45 PM here is the link to the PAC SWI-PS, which is a steering wheel interface module for Pioneer headunits.

as for the check engine light, i find that very odd, but nowadays with the car's subsystems all integrated digitally who knows
