around here there are some roads i have to drive on that would be better suited for a traditional jeep than an srt8. so my question is, how bad would i have to hit a pothole or something before i damaged the suspension or bent a rim? i try my best to be careful, but out in my town there arent many options as far as alternate routes go. thanks

Your only concern might be the front fender. Other than that, you may not have many people taking a second trip with you. It really throws people around on bumpy roads - especially the back seat where there is no bolstering! If you can live with it - I'd get the SRT-8. The truck is awesome. Otherwise, go for the 5.7. It's pretty fast as well.

5.7=boring. Just gave that car to my wife.

So far the front bumper is perfect, there have been some rough dips in the road, though. I was just concerned it might be easy, considering the stiff suspension and low-profile tires, to mess something up.

There's a combination of a pothole and vehicle speed that could bend rim, but you'd have to be an idiot to have that happen to you. Just drive it with a moderate amount of awareness and I'm sure you'll be fine.

well there was a pothole/dip thing i couldnt see the other night and accidentally drove over at like 5 mph (it covered almost the entire turning lane, i later realized). it wasnt a chasm per se but it was definitely alarming. all the rims look fine, i was just curious as to how exactly a rim or suspension-related disaster might come about. do you have to be hauling ass over a 6 inch deep trench or what?

You should be fine - I drive in chicago and we have plenty of pot holes so i've had no problem. You should only worry about two things 1. watch out for crap on the highway ( ran over a metal bar about a foot and it shot up into the undercarriage for some bad noise and god knows what else).2. and parking bump stops. Everyone thats did something to the front end 90% of the time its from pulling too far in a parking spot.

im very careful about the front bumper thing. i actually get out and check bumper clearance sometimes before pulling farther in.
