: Where to put new EZ Tag?
SpeedRacer333 02-01-2007, 07:47 PM Put off switching to the new tags as long as I could. In Houston, we are going from the plastic battery-powered boxes (which I painted flat black and velcroed to the windshield header - virtual invisible) to the new stickers with embedded chips.
Tried the "hold-it-up-to-the-windshield" method and didn't work. Found some articles on the net explaining these new stickers actually use the windshield glass as part of the antenna.
Does anyone have their sticker mounted in that dotted black matrix area at the top of the windshield next to the rear-view mirror? the sticker would be almost invisible, but I would be s.o.l. if it didn't work as the sticker is destroyed when you remove it.
HoustonSRT-8 02-02-2007, 07:23 AM You'd be s.o.l., but all you would have to do is buy another sticker. $10 at the Beltway and IH-10 location. I mounted mine to the right of the mirror and you can see it from outside, but not from the driver's seat.
MrHemi 02-02-2007, 07:39 AM I have the "EZ Pass" and have it mounted on that dotted black matrix area... works like a champ everytime. Can barely see it from the outside.
SpeedRacer333 02-02-2007, 08:22 AM sweet! I"ll try it in the matrix area.
And if it doesn't work, 10 bucks isn't bad - I burn $10 in gas on start-up!:D
Thanks.
Phatgcsrt8 02-02-2007, 12:51 PM I put the new sticker in the same place..left of the mirror if you are inside the jeep. It seems to work fine.
HoustonSRT-8 02-02-2007, 01:52 PM Hmm....I may have to waste $10 to move it into the black dot matrix area...
dubdub 02-02-2007, 02:04 PM I don't know if we have the same EZ Pass equipment - as I'm in NY, but my tag is a 4" by 4" square that's a 1/2" in thickness. I mounted the velcro strips center dash 'over the nav hump'. I just slap it onto the velcro before going through the EZ Pass reader. Never had a problem.

That's our old style. We now have stickers with a small computer chip in them.

It worked. Thanks.:)
lincoln 02-06-2007, 10:51 PM My tolltag (Dallas term for the thing) is behind my state inspection sticker...it fits perfectly and velcro strips are cheap and easy to replace when you need a new sticker (free from the tolltag store here).
maf1960 02-07-2007, 03:25 AM I keep mine in the drivers side door compartment myself. When I approach the EZ Pass lane, I go into "arm" mode.

Just in case you people that are just now responding didn't notice my first post, I'll bump it.
We now have a sticker, not some plastic housing on double sided tape. We cannot mount it behind something or hold it up to the sensor when we drive through the lane.

Yep, gone are the days of swapping the EZ Tag between vehicle's.:)
OT: HoustonSRT-8, I'm suprised i haven't seen your Jeep around. I was starting to think I had the only one in Katy.

Where do you live? I'm at Fry & Clay and I've yet to see another GC SRT-8. Although I have seen a few Magnum SRT-8s, a Charger SRT-8, a 300C SRT-8 and a TB SS.
TRAINER 02-07-2007, 07:45 PM I ordered the one that goes on the front plate and then mounted it behind the front grill. It worked perfectly every time.
