: Henessey GC SRT600 tested in C&D
Tom C 02-01-2007, 08:52 AM They call it the quickest SUV ever. They got the following numbers:
0-60: 3.7
0-100: 9.0
0-150: 28.2
5-60: 4.3
1/4 mile: 12.2 @ 116mph
70-0: 171 ft
skidpad: .90 g
The car was stock except for the motor mods which is an impressive showing for the braking and skidpad figures. The turbo is mounted underneath the tranny. They have a scary pic of the set up underneath. The air intake filter is exposed underneath and the turbo's oil reservoir looks like it could be decapitated by a speed bump. The torque converter blew up during the test. I can scan the article if anyone is interested (although not sure how to post the scan).
Tom
JEEPHEMI 02-01-2007, 09:53 AM Truck Trend tested it also, and they got it to go 0 to 60 in 3.4 secs !!!
1/4 mile in 11.9 @ 115.6 mph !!!
Nice, very nice, but $74,000.00!!!

The air filter thingy underneath is the intercooler. Hennassey has a video of it on his site - it's like a sling shot!
championjeep 02-01-2007, 10:16 AM Its just too bad its made by Hennessey

Well he may not be the best businessman, but he's a genius when it comes to modding cars and trucks - amazing work!
promo718 02-01-2007, 10:28 AM The torque converter blew up during the test.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A GENIUS? HAH! Hardly. He puts poorly designed turbo-charged setups on FAST vehicles. That hardly takes any amount of intelligence. The real genius behind the vehicles he "mods" are the teams of engineers that design, test, and build these cars. Henessey is a joke. If you want to talk about well designed setups, look at Lingenfelter. They are true craftsman.
If Henessey drove his truck off a bridge tomorrow I'd shed a tear, and that's only because the truck was wasted.
I can't stand him, if you can't tell.
El Jefe 02-01-2007, 11:06 AM post the article!

So he's a fraud? Has no talent? They are all the best at what they do. That's why the magazines have their cars featured in them. But you may be biased (or jealous) for personal reasons. Like I said, he's probably not the best businessman.
jlandbl 02-02-2007, 06:45 PM The article says that a stock GC SRT8 limits throttle to 75% in first gear. Is this true? I never heard that before. It = -1/10th in the 0-60.
Crank 02-02-2007, 06:55 PM I went to borders and couldnt find the article is this in the Feburary magazine?

He is a fraud, and he is not a "genius" in the slightest stretch of the word. Magazines do not choose articles or subjects because they are the "best" at what they do. They choose them based on what sells magazines. I had no idea people were that naieve.

X2. The ONLY thing he is a "genius" at is separating people from their money and/or vehicle parts.
I would be totally embarassed to have a "Hennessey" emblem on any vehicle I ever owned.
Any of his so-called "accomplishments" are totally negated by his infamous reputation.
The performance world would be a LOT better off without nutswingers like JH.
Mango 02-02-2007, 07:23 PM Rock on ResumeSpeed!!
It's incredible how many enthusiasts are not aware of his history or of what he is REALLY like.
town cryer 02-02-2007, 07:41 PM see my tread "warning"the town cryer that will say it all about hp.

The throttle doesn't open more than 80% ever according to those who use Dashhawk/scanner. What would 100% feel like?
IMO 12.2 in a 1/4 could be obtained w/ h/c & other bolt on mods.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I've heard of all the horrible experiences from Viper owners and others. I'm not commending his business and I never have. I think the more people that know about the bad experiences they've had with any aftermarket company, the better.
But right now he has moddified a fast production SUV and made it the fasted SUV - it's legit and I give hime credit for that. Anybody can say (or type) "his GCSRT-8 600 sucks" or "he has no talent". If anybody wants to knock his work, build a faster one (or one that lasts longer than a day - that was embarrasing for him).

Just think about how fast it COULD have been if the vehicle had gone to a company that would have used all of the money spent on the truck itself.......
instead of mabe Johns new Kitchen????
Mango 02-03-2007, 01:55 PM It takes NO skill making an already fast vehicle....faster....by simply bolting a Turbo on and routing some pipe. Ever look at HOW he installed his setup?
Now fast forward to a company with technical expertise, such as Arizona Speed & Marine or Lingenfelter. They actually employ engineers with academic training and true talent.
cumadogg 02-03-2007, 02:20 PM I went to borders and couldnt find the article is this in the Feburary magazine?
I just got mine, it's the March '07 issue
JEEPHEMI 02-03-2007, 02:43 PM March '07 issue just came out last week.
StageFright 02-03-2007, 10:54 PM Its supposed to have 600 HP but it only hits 116 mph in the 1/4.
There are guys here that are only 3/10's of second slower than him with a normally aspirated SRT, that is not to impressive for a so-called twin turbo.
