If so, explain to me whats goin on? ie..how does it switch? is it done through clutches or mechanical and so on. No you can't do it from the factory. There are aftermarket ways to do it but not the best thing for your transfer case. Why do you want to be in 2wd anyway?

they are all wheel drive full time, not selectable. if you get an aftermarket 2wd mode you will kill your transfercase...

Also curious why you want 2WD so bad? This topic has been brought up a few times recently and from what it sounds like unless you wanna destroy your transfer case just leave it alone.
If its fuel economy your worried about I dont think it would change much anyway as if I understand correctly the truck runs in RWD mostly anyway until you get on it.
These rigs arent as bad as everything claims. I took this picture today after getting off the highway cruising at 65mph on a flat highway 55 degrees outside.
Cant complain :D
EDIT: ok I just see that its burnouts you wanna do lol. Not sure why you would want to but you can do it. You will break the truck real quick

Oh yeah I agree 100% screw gas mileage. Got the wifes turdwagon to take care of that. I mean, I guess I shouldnt say its "keeping" me from getting one. Ive just seen people at the track heatin the rears up and thinkin " wtf I thought they were AWD?"

Hardtopvette, sorry just read your edit post. Probably slips a clutch pack of some sort.
Most people here avoid the water box.
